Usually, when a company puts together an off-road event to demonstrate the capabilities of its latest vehicles, the cars in question aren’t usually rear-wheel-drive luxury sports coupes. Then again, what fun is having one if you can’t have a little fun?
Aston Martin’s ‘On Ice’ may sound like a glamorous, yet baffling figure skating performance. In reality, however, it’s a three-day driving program the British automaker has put together for one of its signature annual drive events. The program offers drivers a chance to visit Crested Butte, Colorado where they carve a 10-acre ice course with enough bends and hairpin turns in it to make a rally car driver wag his tail in excitement.
Speaking of tail wagging, drivers will partner up with professional instructors who will take them out to the iced-over course for a serious of braking/cornering exercises, work on a skid pad, and slaloms, giving you the knowledge you need to take on full course loops.
Drivers will have Aston’s full lineup available to carve powder, and they’ll be hard pressed to find anything that doesn’t have 12 cylinders in it. They can take the Vanquish, Aston Martin’s 568-horsepower GT out for a spin (or several), the Vantage Coupe, and even the company’s four-door, the Rapide.
The event will also cater to participants off the ice as well with “typically sumptuous Aston Martin luxury living,” meaning for three days, you’ll live the lifestyle befitting those who take $280,000 luxury touring cars on a snowy autocrosses for a lark.
No price is specified for the event, but those interested can reach out to concierge@astonmartindriving.com and inquire about how to partake in luxury hoonage.
