Brabus defies the laws of physics with an 850hp Mercedes-AMG GLE Coupe

Well-known Mercedes-Benz tuner Brabus has gotten its hands on the new Mercedes-AMG GLE 63 S Coupe. The result is a highly-modified crossover called 850 Biturbo 4×4 Coupe that receives a muscular look, a more comfortable cabin, and a comprehensively upgraded engine.

The most important component that makes a Brabus-tuned model stand out from its regular-production counterpart is found under the hood. Starting with a stock GLE 63 S Coupe, Brabus has increased the 5.5-liter V8 engine’s displacement to 6.0 liters and replaced the twin turbos with a generously-sized supercharger. The list of modifications also includes forged pistons and connecting rods as well as a Brabus-specific crankshaft.

As a result, the eight sends 850 horsepower — a 273-pony increase — and a massive 1,069 pound-feet of torque to all four wheels via an automatic transmission. The extra grunt allows the 850 Biturbo to reach 62 mph from a stop in 3.8 seconds and an electronically-limited top speed of about 200 mph. In other words, the 5,180-pound behemoth is about as fast as a Mercedes-AMG GT.

Brabus has also designed a more aerodynamic body kit that includes a new lower bumper with a carbon fiber splitter designed to reduce lift at high speeds, a carbon fiber air diffuser built into the rear bumper, and side skirts. The Biturbo 850 4×4 Coupe rides on enormous 23-inch alloy wheels, though comfort-minded buyers can select smaller 21- and 22-inch units.

The cabin benefits from an à la carte treatment, meaning customers can leave it stock, deck it out completely, or spruce up a few bits and pieces. The list of choices includes leather and Alcantara upholstery options, aluminum pedals, stainless steel sill plates, and ambient lighting.

The Brabus 850 Biturbo 6.0 4×4 Coupe is on sale now in Germany and in a host of other global markets. While pricing information hasn’t been published yet, the fact that the donor car starts at $109,300 indicates the final product is far from cheap.
