Yesterday, we checked out a few new Ford vehicles including the 2013 Ford Escape and the Ford Focus Electric. The Escape requires gas for fuel and the Focus is purely a plug-in vehicle, but the new Ford C-Max hopes to bridge that gap as a hybrid vehicle. There will be two models of the C-Max: one that’s powered primarily by gas and another that will have a full plug-in charging system built into it as well. For those who buy the plug in (called the C-Max Energi), you’ll be getting the best of both worlds because the car will be able to run on electric power most of the time with a gas engine kicking in when needed. This means it has a range of about 500 miles, far more than the 100 miles an electric car gets and the 200-400 that most regular cars get. Reps also tell me that the C-Max is an MAV or Multi Activity Vehicle. It’s a fancy new word to mean a passenger vehicle that’s a bit sleeker than either an SUV or minivan.

With that in mind, the 2022 Ford E-Transit might be one of the most important vehicle launches of the year.

An electric version of the ubiquitous Ford Transit van, the E-Transit offers a zero-emission option to commercial fleets and, potentially, will lower the carbon footprint of your online shopping. It’s scheduled to go on sale in late 2021.

2021 Tesla Cybertruck vs. 2021 Ford F-150

Tesla strongly hinted the Cybertruck won't compete in the same segment of the market as the popular Ford F-150, and whether they'll appeal to the same target audience remains to be seen, but the two pickups will inevitably overlap in many areas. Both were designed to tow, haul, venture off the beaten path, and commute.

Keep in mind Tesla won't begin building the Cybertruck until 2021 at the earliest. You can't walk to the nearest Tesla store and take one for a test drive because it's not in production; we haven't even seen the production version of it yet. The comparison with the F-150 is largely hypothetical, and all specs listed here are subject to change.

Ford’s electric 1,502-hp Mustang dragster burns tires, not race fuel

Ford defiantly argued a Mustang doesn't need to have a turbocharged four-cylinder engine or a big V8 under the hood to honor the nameplate's heritage when it introduced the electric Mach-E. It took the emblematic model even further into electrification territory by building a battery-powered, Mustang-based dragster named Cobra Jet.

Hardcore, dyed-in-the-wool Mustang fans will recognize the Cobra Jet name because it denoted a mighty, 7.0-liter V8 engine in the late 1960s. Fast forward to 2020, and it proudly designates an electric dragster whose output checks in at a monstrous 1,400 horsepower and 1,100 pound-feet of instant torque, though Ford revised the first figure in September 2020. Its total output is 1,502 hp, a jaw-dropping number that puts it on par with the Bugatti Chiron.
