The list of upgrades includes a performance exhaust system for 3.6-liter V6 and 6.2-liter V8 models. The axle-back systems make a nicer sound, Chevy says, but don’t void the factory warranty. They are not compatible with the available dual-mode exhaust system, though. On the other end of the combustion process, a performance air intake kit will also be offered for V8 models in early 2016.
To improve the Camaro’s handling and give it a meaner look, Chevy will also offer suspension-lowering kits. Also set to go on sale in early 2016, they lower the car by up to eight inches. There will be kits designed for LT and SS coupes and convertibles, although they cannot be added to SS models equipped with the optional Magnetic Ride Control magnetor-heological adjustable suspension.
Brembo brakes have appeared on everything from Formula One cars to the Buick Regal GS, so why not a Camaro? Chevy will offer two packages, including one for 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and V6 models that upgrades the from brakes with four-piston calipers, and bigger rotors that match those used on the V8 Camaro SS in size. A six-piston caliper option for the front brakes is also available for all models, with even bigger rotors.
In addition to the performance-related parts, Chevy is also launching a line of accessories intended to help buyers personalize their cars. These will include three wheel designs, grille kits, a rear spoiler and ground effects kit, interior trim options, and custom finishes for certain parts, such as smoked taillight lenses. There will also be four exterior graphics packages, including the classic dual racing stripes, a single center stripe, front fender hash marks, and side spears.
The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro goes on sale later this year, facing off against its old rivals, the Ford Mustang and Dodge Challenger.
