The Q60 concept is a thinly-disguised version of the next-generation Q60 coupe that will soon replace the aging current model, and complement the Q50 sedan that’s been around since the 2014 model year.
The concept definitely borrows a lot from recent Infiniti models, as well as the Q80 Inspiration concept from the 2014 Paris Motor Show.
Notable details include a massive grille, some interesting side surfacing, and Infiniti’s answer to the famed BMW “Hofmeister kink” at the rear corner of the back window.
The interior features a 2+2 layout, which means the back seats will probably only be usable for short trips, or for children. Those are the sacrifices you have to make for style.
A thick-rimmed three-spoke steering wheel and carbon-fiber trim give the interior a sporty feel, while the inclined center console should make reaching secondary controls easier.
The production Q60 will likely be more or less a two-door version of the Q50, with the same platform and 3.7-liter V6 engine.
The Q50 is also available as a hybrid, but it’s unclear whether Infiniti will offer that powertrain in the coupe. Beyond that, the Q60 could also be turned into a convertible, or receive any new powertrain options Infiniti has planned.
We’ll find out just what the Q60 has under its hood this fall, when the production version is expected to go on sale.
