It means occupants of the upcoming luxury SUVs will be able to kick back and enjoy Fire TV’s entertainment offerings via a plethora of screens.

The Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer will be the first vehicles in the auto industry to integrate Amazon Fire TV for Auto, and the news comes just over a year after the e-commerce giant announced the vehicle-based version of its system.

Fire TV for Auto will hook up with the Uconnect 5 infotainment software to allow users to sync the system with their Amazon account. It means, for example, you’ll be able to pause a show in the car and carry on from where you left off when you get home.

Passengers will be able to watch Fire TV in HD from the rear seats and the front passenger screen. A privacy filter will prevent drivers from watching the content while motoring along the highway, though the main display will show content when the vehicle is in park.

Importantly, you’ll be able to download content for offline viewing so you won’t be stuck if you’re driving in the middle of nowhere and find yourself without a network connection.

And, of course, Alexa will be riding alongside you in the vehicle, enabling full voice control of Amazon’s entertainment platform. The digital assistant can be enabled via a Fire TV for Auto-specific remote that offers push-to-talk access. The entire system can also be controlled via the vehicle’s touchscreens.

“The all-new 2022 model-year Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer are designed and engineered to set a new standard for American premium in the large SUV segment,” Jeep brand CEO Christian Meunier said in a release on Thursday, March 5. “Launching Fire TV for Auto as an industry-first technology to the Wagoneer lineup illustrates one of the many ways we intend to deliver class-leading technology and connectivity to our customers.”

Jeep is set to unveil the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer on March 11. The automaker revealed a concept design of the vehicle in 2020, which should be close to the real thing.

McIntosh brings huge, 24-channel sound to 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer
McIntosh in-car audio system inside the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer

Despite the fact that the ongoing pandemic means more of us are leaving our cars parked at home, there appears to be a surge in partnerships between audio companies and carmakers. Yesterday brought the unexpected news that Sonos will make its automotive debut in the 2022 Audi Q4 E-Tron, and today, legendary audio brand, McIntosh, has announced its return to the automotive world with new systems that will appear in the 2022 Jeep Grand Wagoneer.

McIntosh has a reputation for building some of the most powerful and precise hi-fi amplifiers and speakers for discerning audiophiles, and its new MX1375 Reference Entertainment System -- a Jeep Grand Wagoneer exclusive -- sounds like it will do for car audio what McIntosh has done for home audio.

Amazon slashes prices of Echo and Fire TV devices for Prime Day
Prime Day Amazon Echo Deals

Prime Day is here. Okay, not quite. We still have a few hours to go until the event itself kicks off, but that hasn't stopped Amazon from discounting everything from Echo Dots and Fire TVs to Fire tablets to their lowest-ever prices. I guess when you run the show you can do as you please. Anyhow, the retailer has confirmed that Amazon device sales are in fact Prime Day deals -- as indicated by the small badge on the product pages -- and has reassured us that the pricing will remain the same through the end of the shopping bonanza on October 14.

The best single best deal? The retailer has the Amazon Echo Dot for just $19. This is the cheapest it has ever offered the puck-sized smart speaker, down $3 from the $22 we saw on Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Of course, that's not the only offer to write home about. It's also offering the souped-up Amazon Echo Studio for $150, down $50 from the usual $200, and has the top-rated Fire HD 10 tablet for just $80. That's $70 under sticker. Oh, and did we mention the Fire TV Recast (500GB) is on sale for just $130. Wait for it... That's a savings of $100. Wowzers.
