In the world of automotive teaser ads, some are ambiguous, while others get right to the point. Can you guess which one this is?
General Motors’ latest promotion for the 2016 Cadillac ATS-V speaks to the vehicle’s sporty nature, as the 16-second film features the disguised coupe attempting to murder its rear tires.
The ATS-V is, like the CTS-V is to the CTS, an enhanced, bruising version of its luxurious ATS (pictured).
The car will be fully detailed at the 2014 LA Auto Show later this month, so the American automaker has been remarkably coy on specifications thus far. Still, most predict that the ATS-V will equip the twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6 from the larger CTS Vsport, which bridges the gap between the base CTS and the high-performance CTS-V.
The engine makes 420 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque in the Vsport, so expect a similar output for the ATS-V, which should be just enough to rival the 425-hp, $64,200 BMW M4.
As it stands today, the ATS is offered with either a 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces 202 horsepower, a turbocharged four with 272 hp, and a 3.6-liter V6 that makes 321 hp.
The exterior of the car will undoubtedly receive the ‘V’ treatment as well, with a retooled front fascia, large rear spoiler, exclusive alloys and strengthened braking system punctuating the coupe’s aggressive demeanor. Don’t be surprised if a four-pipe sports exhaust system shows up out back as well.
The ATS-V will arrive in showrooms next year with its big brother in tow, the V8-powered CTS-V. The CTS-V is expected to be revealed at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show in January, while the ATS-V will go live on November 18th.
