Mercedes to launch 2015 C63 S AMG with Edition 1 model

Mercedes-Benz has detailed the limited-edition C63 S AMG Edition 1. The hot-rodded C is scheduled to land in showrooms across the country next March as a 2015 model.

Visually, the Edition 1 stands out from the stock C63 S thanks to a lip spoiler painted gloss black, flat gray stripes above the rocker panels as well as red accents on the radiator grille, the wheels and the door mirrors. Additionally, the Edition 1 comes standard with the Night Package that adds heavily tinted windows and four chromed tailpipes out back. The Night Package is available as an option on the regular-production C63.

Edition 1 buyers can choose from a large palette of colors that includes polar white, palladium silver, bright diamond white and osbidian black. Black 19-inch forged wheels wrapped by low-profile tires add a finishing touch to the muscular look.

The interior has been upgraded with AMG sports seats upholstered in black diamond-stitched Nappa leather, a flat-bottomed three-spoke steering wheel, red-tinted carbon fiber trim on the dashboard and red seat belts sourced from Mercedes’ designo line of accessories. Edition 1-specific floor mats round out the list of updates.

Mercedes has not made any mechanical modifications, meaning the Edition 1 is powered by a stock C63 S-sourced twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 engine that makes 502 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a seven-speed automatic transmission controlled by shift paddles, allowing the C63 S to reach 60 mph from a stop in 3.9 seconds and before hitting an electronically-limited top speed of 155 mph.

Mercedes will release pricing information for the C63 S Edition 1 in the weeks leading up to its on-sale date. The limited-edition model will exclusively be available during the first year of C63 production.
