Tushek Renovatio T500: Slovenian supercar tackles the roadway and raceway with style

The Tushek Renovatio T500 (not be confused with the T-1000 super killer nanomorph from Terminator 2: Judgment Day) is a Slovenian designed and developed sports car.

The Slovenian startup is relatively new to the auto scene and was founded by former race driver Aljosa Tusek. And while there seems to be a growing amount of boutique automakers popping up here, there, and everywhere, the T500 marks the very first supercar to hail from Slovenia.

From a design standpoint, it seems a lot of effort has been taken with the T500. Apparently, Tusek gathered a number of fabricators and engineers to build the car from scratch with an emphasis on keeping the vehicles weight down. The entire car is built around a custom chrome-moly steel tube chassis, while the body panels consist of carbon fiber and composite making it extremely lightweight at 2,497 pounds.

Since there are a lot of aspiring automakers out there it takes a lot to stand out among the crowd. It isn’t enough to deliver a sleek and sophisticated design; the car has to be able to perform. Thankfully, it looks like Tusek’s engineers have managed to pack a lot of meat under those lightweight bones.

Under the hood we find a 4.2-liter V8 borrowed from an Audi RS4 pumping out 450 horses and 316 pound feet of torque. According to Tushek, the Renovatio will sprint to 62 mph in 3.7 seconds and reach a maximum speed of 193 mph.

With its beefy V8 and focus on weight reduction, it’s clear Tushek is prepping the T500 to take to the track with ease. But the Slovenian supercar is meant just as much for the roadway as it is the raceway. The interior features a satellite navigation system, mp3 player, Bluetooth, keyless entry, and both leather and Alcantara suede upholstery. Other options include a rear view camera, heated seats, and a titanium exhaust.

Tushek plans on building only 30 Renovatios – adding to the car’s exclusivity. As of now there is no definitive roll out date or pricing, but the T500 is scheduled to make an appearance this year in Monaco at the Top Marques show.

Tuskhek is also working on an even lighter and more powerful model know as the Forego T700 due out sometime in 2013.

Electric vehicles are inseparable from newness, whether it’s new tech, new designs, or new companies like Rivian, Lucid, and Tesla. But the Volkswagen Group’s new EV-only brand also relies heavily on the past.

Unveiled Thursday, the Scout Traveler electric SUV and Scout Terra electric pickup truck are modern interpretations of the classic International Harvester Scout. Manufactured from 1961 to 1980, the original Scout helped popularize the idea of the rugged, off-road-capable utility vehicle, setting the stage for modern SUVs.
