Las Vegas may be known as Sin City, but starting next year, it will offer you the divine experience of being able to flog exotic supercars around a track.
In January 2016, a facility called SpeedVegas is set to open on South Las Vegas Boulevard, just 10 minutes from the historic “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign. The “adrenaline inducing supercar experience” is inspired by Formula One racetracks, and will offer customers the opportunity to drive Ferraris, Lamborghinis, Audis, Ford Shelby Mustangs, Corvettes, and more over a high-speed circuit.
The 100-acre facility is currently being built in Nevada, and will feature a 2,000-foot straight, 12 corners, 60 feet of elevation change, and a full set of lights for nighttime motoring. When completed, SpeedVegas says the premises will be able to accommodate thousands of people.
“[Las Vegas] visitors are seeking extraordinary life experiences that they cannot do at home,” said Allison Raskansky, VP of Business Development of SpeedVegas. “We have teamed up with leading Vegas professionals, representing different segments of the tourism industry, to ensure SpeedVegas will deliver what the visitors are looking for and that Las Vegas will be proud to call its own.”
While we’re still a ways off from SpeedVegas’ opening date, the company has released several digital renderings of what the compound will eventually look like. A welcome center, event center, meeting space, cafe, and various outdoor observation decks are all planned.
Another item of note is that the endeavor is being managed by the World Class Driving team, a group that has provided performance car tours and educational courses around Nevada for years.
“We are thankful to the community and Commission for embracing the project,” said Aaron Fessler, SpeedVegas CEO. “The vision has been to develop an experience that most have only dreamt of. Thanks to the overwhelming support of Las Vegas, that vision is now realized as SpeedVegas.”
