Got a touch monitor on your shopping list but budget tightness making gift hunting difficult? If you or a loved one just installed Windows 8 on a rig and are currently trying to get by with a non-touch enabled monitor, you might be experiencing a considerable amount of frustration since Windows 8 was designed with touch in mind. Acer’s $199 FT200HQL 10-point touch display offers a relatively cheap option for those who can’t handle a pairing of a non-touch display and Microsoft’s newest OS.

Resembling an all in one desktop PC, the 19.5-inch Acer FT200HQL features a resolution of 1600 X 900, viewing angles that max out at 170 degree horizontally and 160 degrees vertically, and 10-point capacitive touch. It’s worth noting that other competitors in this class, like the Dell 20 Touch Monitor (E2014T), top out at 5-point touch, sports the same 1600 x 900 resolution as Acer’s newest offering but costs $50 more direct from Dell. The Acer’s response time and contrast ratio weigh in at 5ms and 100,000,000:1, respectively.

Acer’s newest monitor has an easel-like base that can be tilted back from 10 and 90 degrees, and is VESA wall-mount compatible. It also includes a pair of integrated speakers, and is compatible with an MHL wireless adapter. Port selection includes VGA and two HDMI ports.
