Acer rolls out colorful Aspire One Happy 2 netbooks

Computer maker Acer has introduced its new—if somewhat counter intuitively-named&mdsah;Aspire One Happy 2 netbooks. The new systems feature 10.1-inch display and Intel Atom N570 processors, along with battery lives of up to eight hours. The systems also feature a selection of four bright new colorful cases—dubbed Banana Cream, Blueberry Shake, Papaya Milk, Strawberry Yogurt—that are less than one inch thick.

“We’ve made our industry-leading netbook line more personal by giving consumers a wider variety of colors and style treatments,” said Acer’s senior product marketing manager for netbooks Pete Dailey, in a statement. “The new Aspire One Happy 2 offers users fresh and bright color options, while maintaining the Aspire One’s legacy of offering PC productivity for mobile consumers.”

The Aspire Happy 2s come with 1 GB of DDR3 RAM, a 250 GB hard drive, an Intel Atom N570 processor (with Intel graphics, and run Windows 7 Starter and Microsoft Office Starter 2010. They feature 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi and Ethernet networking, a VGA-resolution webcam for video chat. The netbooks’ keyboards are 93 percent of full size, and the systems weight just over 2.5 pounds for easy portability.

The Acer Aspire One Happy 2 series netbooks are available now at U.S. retailers at prices starting at $269.99—which makes them a lot cheaper than many tablet offerings.
