Acer’s TimelineX notebooks slim down and amp up

Computer maker Acer has announced updates to its well-regarded TimelineX series of slim notebook computers, adding second-generation Intel Core i3 and Core i5 processors, longer battery life, and improved entertainment options with the addition of Dolby Home Theater v4 audio. Acer says the new TimelineX systems can offer battery life of up to 9 hours (8 hours with discrete graphics) and sport a battery life cycle of up to your years so users will get full value from the systems. All the systems sport 3DSonic Stereo speakers and a USB 3.0 port that can charge USB devices even when the notebook is turned off.

“From its inception, the Acer Aspire TimelineX Series has hit the mark in style, mobility, performance, and battery life for ultimate PC productivity,” said Acer America senior product marketing manager Eric Ackerson, in a statement. “The new updated models build upon this proposition to provide even more value for our customers.”

The fun, colorful hues on Acer's new slim Swift X laptop make it the perfect Windows alternative to those who were waiting for Apple to redesign its MacBook Air. In addition to beating Apple's rumored colorful MacBook Air redesign with bright tones, the Swift X also plays up its premium design and lightweight form factor.

This slim notebook with its aluminum chassis looks more like a premium ultra-thin laptop than a gaming notebook, but don't be fooled. The Swift X's gaming chops come from Nvidia's GeForce RTX 3000 series mobile GPUs under the hood. Specifically, the Swift X uses Nvidia's newly launched GeForce RTX 3050 Ti laptop graphics card alongside AMD's Ryzen 7 5800U mobile processor.
