Asus is another laptop manufacturer that’s making a serious investment in AMD’s latest CPUs. This time around, as announced at CES 2021, the company is introducing the ZenBook 13 OLED UM325 and the ZenBook 14 UM425, both of which will utilize AMD Ryzen 5000 CPUs for superior performance. With so many new laptops at CES this year, there’s a lot to be excited about.
Asus ZenBook 13 OLED
Asus hasn’t provided many details on the new ZenBook 13 OLED UM325, but we do know that it’s among the lightest OLED AMD-based laptops on the market at just 2.51 pounds. It sports an all-metal construction and utilizes a Full HD OLED high dynamic range (HDR) display that boasts an 88% screen-to-body ratio. Unlike most new laptops being introduced at CES, the ZenBook 13 OLED uses the old-school 16:9 aspect ratio instead of the more popular 16:10 (or 3:2 in some cases).
As usual, Asus has subjected the ZenBook 13 OLED to a host of tests to meet the demanding MIL-STD 810H durability standard. Connectivity is provided by Wi-Fi 6, and Asus has implemented artificial intelligence-based noise-canceling audio technology to enhance videoconference and other communications tasks. Windows 10 Hello is provided by an infrared camera mounted on the display.
The ZenBook 13 OLED UM325 will be available in February 2021. Pricing has not yet been announced.
Asus ZenBook 14
As with the ZenBook 13 OLED UM325, Asus has not yet provided many details on the newest ZenBook 14 UM425. It, too, will utilize AMD CPUs, specifically up to the AMD Ryzen 7 5800H CPU and up to NVIDIA GeForce MX450 graphics. It will utilize a dual-fan cooling system to keep the laptop running at full performance, along with the company’s ErgoLift hinge that props up the keyboard and provides more room for air to move underneath the chassis.
The chassis is 0.56 inches thick, making it one of the thinnest AMD-based 14-inch laptops you’ll find. Wireless connectivity will be provided by Wi-Fi 6, and the ZenBook 14 will enjoy the same A.I. noise-canceling features and facial recognition-based Windows Hell0 support as the ZenBook 13 OLED. The ZenBook 14 will offer up to 16 hours of battery life, making it a good option for mobile professionals who need both portable power and productive time away from the office.
The ZenBook 14 UM425 will be available in February 2021. Once again, pricing has not yet been announced.
