Asus has quietly launched the Zenbook Flip UX360 here in the United States, a super-thin, ultra-light 2-in-1 that sports a full 360-degree hinge, allowing customers to flip the screen back to create a tablet-like form factor. It’s a mere 13.9mm thin, weighs just 2.86 pounds, and packs an Intel “Skylake” processor to boot. Think of it as an Asus Zenbook UX305CA that can be converted into a tablet when you need it.

The online Asus shop actually shows two models, one being the ZenBook Flip UX360CA-UBM1T that’s available now for $700, and the ZenBook Flip UX360CA-DBM2T, coming soon for a meatier $800. Both are based on the Intel Core M 6Y30 processor with integrated Intel HD Graphics 515 visuals, which powers a 13.3-inch LED-lit 1080p screen. They also both have 8GB of RAM. However, the cheaper model sports a 256GB solid state, while the latter model on the way will have a 512GB SSD.

Other bells and whistles thrown into this 2-in-1 include a microphone/headphone combo jack, two USB 3.0 ports, one USB 3.0 Type-C port, one micro-HDMI port for outputting the Windows 10 Home desktop to an external display, one SD card reader, two 1.6-watt speakers, digital array microphones, and a 1.2MP HD webcam. On the networking front, the new 2-in-1 provides dual-band Wireless AC connectivity and Bluetooth 4.0.

All of this is powered by a 3-cell, 54 watt-hour polymer battery. That’s a big battery for a 2-in-1 device, so it should lead to strong battery life.

To support the super-thin form factor, the 2-in-1 does not use fans to keep the components cool. Instead, this system relies on a chromium-copper alloy heat-pipe measuring just 0.5mm in diameter, meaning the 2-in-1 is super quiet, even at full power. Given that this 2-in-1 is so thin, it’s hard to tell in the product images where it tosses out the collected heat.

Finally, the actual ZenBook Flip UX360CA product page specifications show that models will also be offered with Intel Core M 6Y54 and M 6Y75 processors. Memory spans from 4GB to 8GB, and there will also be models sporting screens with a super-sharp 3,200 x 1,800 resolution. Storage options will range from 128GB to 512GB on M.2 SSDs.
