Computer peripherals maker Belkin today introduced their Wireless G Plus MIMO line of wireless products. This line, which consists of a router, notebook card and USB adapter, is powered by Airgo Networks’ MIMO technology.
The Wireless G Plus MIMO line, according to Belkin, enhances an otherwise standard 802.11g wireless network in a home or office setting. Major benefits include up to 1,000 ft of wireless range, 10x faster wireless speed than 802.11b, improved resistance to interference from nearby 2.4GHz devices and not dropping to the lowest common networking speed in mixed-mode environments.
True MIMO, Belkin explained, is a smart-antenna technique that uses multiple radios and antennas to transmit and receive wireless signals. It transmits separate signals on each radio through multiple antennas, which in turn provides a larger coverage area.
The router and notebook card will be available in August for $99.99 and $79.99 respectively. The USB adapter is due on store shelves for $89.99 in December.
