Dell Ups Minimum XPS Desktop Configuration

Dell yesterday announced they were doubling the memory and hard drive space of their XPS 200 and 400 desktop models. These changes to their line up will reportedly be at no additional configuration costs, which currently start at $999.

With this move, Dell said, the minimum configurations across all XPS desktop computers goes up to 1 GB of memory and 160 GB of hard drive capacity, up from the 512 MB of memory and 80 GB hard drive when they debuted last September. These desktop systems are also equipped with Intel Dual Core processors and Microsoft Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005.

Dell Black Friday in July sale: save $550 on the Dell XPS 17 laptop

If you've always liked the look of the Apple MacBook Pro 16 but don't necessarily want to get into the Apple ecosystem, the Dell XPS lineup is Dell's answer and a great alternative. Of course, the XPS laptops also cost quite a bit, but luckily, Dell has a great deal on the XPS 17 for its Black Friday in July sale, bringing it down to $2,999 from $3,549, which is rather substantial.

Why you should buy the Dell XPS 17 Laptop
For a laptop that costs just under $3,000, the Dell XPS 17 is powerful and surprisingly versatile, allowing you to game, work, edit, program, and do anything you want. For example, if you're going to game, this version of the Dell XPS 17 has an impressive RTX 4070, which performs similarly to the RTX 3080 with similar pricing and is great for playing games at 2k at 100+ frames. Luckily, the 17-inch screen has a UHD+ resolution so that you can push graphical quality with most games, such as Elden Ring and Diablo 4. The monitor can also hit 500 nits of peak brightness, which means you can use it everywhere except where direct sunlight is hitting the screen.

dell inspiron desktop deal april 2023 pc lifestyle

While we often see a lot of great deals on flashy gaming PCs, we don't often see great deals on pure work or school PCs, which is why we were happy to see this deal on the Dell Inspiron Small Desktop PC. It's also a great option if you have a smaller office or space at home that can't fit a full-sized tower, even if you're not aiming for a work or business laptop. Even better, while it usually goes for $650, Dell has discounted it to $500.

Why you should buy the Dell Inspiron Small Desktop PC
While budget-oriented desktops tend to have poor CPUs, we're happy to say that the Dell Inspiron Small Desktop PC comes with a 13th Gen Intel Core i5-13400, a mid-range CPU that's more than enough to handle most productivity you'll throw at it. While it might struggle a little with some editing tasks, such as graphics or music production, it should still be able to handle them with limits. Ironically, even though the i5-13400 is one of the best processors for gaming, the Small Desktop doesn't come with any. Still, if you're a bit tech-savvy, you can pick a great graphics card and install it yourself, assuming the motherboard version you get is compatible.
