Final Firefox 3 Beta Released

Final Firefox 3 Beta Released Two days ago Mozilla released the fifth, and what will be the last, beta version of its Firefox 3 browser, ahead ofa final release in June. According to developers, it’s undergone more than a few tiny tweaks. Instead, there are reportedly over 750 changes, and the claim is that it will be the fastest-everFirefox. Heavy memory leakage had been a problem in the past, but testing of the fourth beta version showed the memory footprint was smaller than earlier versions, according to ZDNet, as well assmaller than both Safari and Internet Explorer. Among other features, Firefox 3 will have an automatic system that blocks pages known to be forgeries. Additionally, the browser will have anti-malwarecode as part of its structure, with parental content blocking as an option. Although many browsers currently use just two connections to a page to retrieve data, Firefox 3 will use six in orderto increase speed. The browser is said to have better integration with Windows, Mac and Linux. A release candidate of Firefox 3 will appear next month.

I write about tech for a living, so you probably won’t be surprised to learn that I spend an unreasonable amount of time browsing the internet (those dog videos aren’t going to watch themselves). Some have been better than others, but I've carefully curated a list that can elevate your internet experience and help take it to the next level. If you’re after some new extensions for Chrome, Safari, Firefox and all the other best web browsers, these are my own personal recommendations.

Windows 11 will finally respect your default browser — in Europe

Microsoft makes it easy to change the default browser in Windows 11. That's important if you require special features specific to one of the many web browsers that are available on a PC. Unfortunately, it's not as simple to be rid of Edge entirely.

Microsoft Edge will still load to open some other file types. When opening a link from Windows Settings or other system components, the webpage will load in Edge. That's now about to change, however, according to a recent Windows blog post.

I tried the trendy new Arc browser — and this one feature blew my mind

I'm a tab hoarder. I'm the type that tends to have literally hundreds of tabs open at any one time (I know, it’s a problem). That makes me the last person who you’d think would enjoy a browser like Arc.

The innovative new browser stashes tabs in a sidebar and automatically archives them if they haven't been used in 24 hours. That might sound handy to you, but the thought of all my precious tabs disappearing into the archive fills me with worryingly intense anxiety.
