Gateway today announced they were updating their desktop line with a new series of computers which feature some of the “latest technology†out there. The new DX series, broken out amongst three models, is available now for starting prices ranging from $499.99 to $899.99.
The DX100, DX200 and DX300, Gateway said, offer up the newest in Intel 64-bit processors as well as the computer manufacturer’s BTX cooling chassis. This Gateway designed chassis uses dual system fans to create a central wind tunnel which circulates more air for the cooling of internal components.
The DX100, the most basic of the three, is aimed at the entry level market, while the DX200 is more geared for those gaming over the Internet or running a home-based business. The top of the line DX300, meanwhile, boasts things like an Intel Pentium 4 processor with HT Technology for running multiple applications at once, a DVD+/-R/RW drive 8-in-1 media card reader and a SATA II/300 hard drive.
“We’ve taken the latest technologies that other PC companies typically roll out only on their high-end systems and are making them available throughout our entire line — from high-performance all the way down to our value models,” said Marc Demars, Gateway’s senior director of product marketing.
