Hewlett Packard today announced they were rolling out several new computers in time for the holiday shopping season. Unveiled at the ongoing Digital Life consumer electronics trade show in New York, the new product line up includes a 17†notebook, HP’s slimmest consumer desktop PC to date and two Windows Media Center entertainment related PCs.
The new 17†HP Pavilion dv8000 notebook PC series, with a starting price of $1,099, will be available starting in November. Noted features of this notebook series include an ATI Radeon Xpress 200M integrated graphics processor with 128MB of discrete RAM, dual hard drive storage system, AMD Turion 64 mobile technology processor and the ability to listen to music without doing a full system boot up.
The HP Pavilion s7000 is what HP calls a “Slimline PCâ€. Set at a starting price of $449 and available this November, the s7000 is approximately one third the size of a traditional PC. It has all of the features of a regular PC and also includes a 9-in-1 memory card reader.
The HP Digital Entertainment Center z556 and z558 series PCs come loaded with Microsoft’s Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 Update Rollup 2. Designed to fit into a home entertainment system, these two products are expected to be available in the next few weeks starting at $1,499. Common features in these models include HD quality television tuners, up to a 1/2 terabyte of hard drive storage, a DVD burner, DVD changer support and a front-panel 9-in-1 memory card reader.
