HP Unwraps New Desktops and Monitors

Getting a jump-start on its Consumer Electronics Show unveilings, HP announced its latest line-up of desktop computers and monitors from Las Vegas on Thursday. New products include a performance-oriented slimline PC, home entertainment PCs, monitors up to 24 inches, and more.

The Pavilion Slimline s3330f is HP’s attempt to cram the performance of a full tower PC into a package one third the size. It comes equipped with a dual-format Blu-Ray and HD-DVD player, TV tuner, and Nvidia GeForce 8500 graphics card with HDMI out, making it capable of serving as both a media center and a gaming machine. It sells for $949.

A notch up on the price scale at $1,159, and without the slimline form factor, HP will offer the Pavilion Elite m9100. It will be powered by an Intel Quad CoreT processor, and come with 4GB of memory, room for up to a terabyte of storage in its two drive bays, and an “easy backup” button.

The Pavilion Media Center m8330f, priced at $959, is the company’s newest AMD-powered option, with a Phenom 9500 Quad Core processor under the hood and digital entertainment options to organize and play TV shows, movies, music and photos.

HP has specifically targeted photo enthusiasts with its $649 Pavilion a6330f. It comes with a 500GB drive for storing photos, HP’s Photosmart Essential for organizing and editing them, a pocket media drive bay for adding more storage, and a 15-in-1 card reader on the front for accepting flash cards from all types of cameras.

New monitors include the w2408h and w2207h, which measure up at 24 and 22 inches, respectively. Both sport exceptionally high 1000:1 contrast ratios and hit 5ms response times. The w2408h sells for $499, while the w2207h goes for $349.

This great HP starter gaming PC is discounted to $520
The HP Victus 15L gaming PC on a desk.

Over at HP, you can buy one of the better value gaming PC deals around at the moment. Usually priced at $830, the HP Victus 15L is down to $520 for a limited time only. While its spec means you'll need to make some compromises with game detail levels, it's still an excellent starting point for PC gamers on a budget. Let's take a look at what it offers before the deal ends soon.

Why you should buy the HP Victus 15L
This particular HP Victus 15L won't compete with the very best gaming PCs but it's far gentler on your wallet than the alternatives. In exchange, you get an Intel Core i5-12400 processor along with 8GB of memory and an Intel Arc A380 graphics card with 6GB of dedicated VRAM. The graphics card is roughly on par with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 so it's not exactly fast but it will allow you to play games like Diablo IV, Grand Theft Auto V, and many others if you don't mind tweaking the graphics settings in-game. For storage, there's 256GB of SSD storage so you have room for a few different games to be installed at once. Consider this as an introduction to PC gaming and you're right on track.

We're not sure how long this bargain will last, but since there's a chance that stocks sell out quickly, you're going to have to hurry up with your purchase if you don't want to miss out.

Why you should buy the HP Chromebook 14a
The HP Chromebook 14a doesn't look like much on paper, as it's equipped with the Intel Celeron N4120 processor, integrated Intel UHD Graphics 600, and 4GB of RAM. However, according to our Chromebook versus laptop comparison, it's still going to run smoothly because of Google's Chrome OS, which rely on online apps and Android apps instead of traditional software that you need to install. The HP Chromebook 14a will never challenge the best laptops as it won't be able to handle demanding tasks, but for basic functions like typing reports, making presentations, and doing online research, it's more than enough.
