Kingston Adds Migo Software to USB Drives

Memory and digital media products maker Kingston Technology announced yesterday they were tweaking their line of DataTraveler USB Flash Drives to start including PowerHouse Technology’s Migo personalized workspace software on the DataTraveler II Plus. The new USB flash drive will come in four memory configurations – 256MB, 512MB, 1GB, 2GB – and retail in price from $34 to $168.

The DataTraveler II Plus – Migo Edition, according to a Kingston press release, is USB 2.0 compatible and has data transfer rates of up to 19MB/sec read and 13MB/sec write. It uses the Migo software to allow users to carry a variety of desktop related settings, such as Outlook emails, IE settings and bookmarks, files and folders, from computer to computer. The software allows for multiple computer profiles on a single device and data can be password protected through Kingston’s onboard privacy feature.

“Kingston teamed up with PowerHouse to make DataTraveler II Plus – Migo Edition the easiest and safest way to take your desktop with you everywhere you go — on a device small enough to fit on a keychain,” said Mike Kuppinger, digital media product manager, Kingston. “The DataTraveler II Plus – Migo Edition gives you the freedom and security to work just about anywhere and when you return to your PC, it automatically synchronizes your work, keeps versions current and leaves no trace of your personal data behind,” continued Kuppinger.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano Gen 3 rear view showing lid and logo.

While the laptop industry continues to move toward 14-inch laptops and larger, the 13-inch laptop remains an important category. One of the best is the Apple MacBook Air M2, with an extremely thin and well-built chassis, great performance, and incredibly long battery life.
