Kingston Introduces Secure USB Flash Drive

Kingston Technology yesterday introduced what they are calling the world’s first secure USB flash drive targeted towards enterprise uses. The new DataTraveler Elite â€“ Privacy Edition is available in storage capacities of 256MB ($48), 512MB ($75), 1GB ($119), 2GB ($222) and 4GB ($347).

The DataTraveler Elite â€“ Privacy Edition, said Kingston, secures data via 128-bit hardware-based AES encryption as well as a complex password protocol and a mechanism which blocks access after 25 consecutive failed password attempts. Other features of this USB drive, which runs on Windows based computers, include physical measurements of 2.67â€ x 0.829â€ x 0.355â€ and a data transfer rate of up to 24MB per second read and up to 14MB/sec write.
