Lenovo Expands IdeaPad Notebook Line

Lenovo Expands IdeaPad Notebook Line

Lenovo has rolled out four new notebooks in its IdeaPad line of consumer notebooks, adding size choices and (dare we say it?) color choices to Lenovo’s famously staid lineup. Along with colors—orange, black, red, and blue—Lenovo is also rolling forward with facial recognition as a login system, along with offering HDMI and optional Blu-ray drives.

“From San Francisco to Paris to Singapore, customer feedback on our inaugural IdeaPad notebooks has been exceptional,” said Lenovo Americas VP Stephen DiFranco, in a statement. “Our new styles, colors, and innovations are all about customers and the ways they express themselves and their ideas.”

The IdeaPad U330 is less than an inch thick, weighs less than four pounds, and offers Lenovo’s VeriFace facial recognition technology. The system also sports Dolby Home Theater, HDMI output, and optional integrated DVD burner, and touch sensitive multimedia controls. The U330 also offers switchable graphics: use integrated graphics when trying to conserve battery life and do everyday things like Internet and email, then switch to discrete graphics when you’re plugged in and looking to take in a movie.

The new IdeaPad Y430 and Y530 feature textured cases, come with either a framed or frameless screen, and an optional Blu-ray disc player, whlie the Y730 expands on Lenovo’s existing Y710 with a frameless screen, HDMI, an optional Blu-ray player, VeriFace recognition technology, up to two 320 GB hot-swappable hard drives, and a 17-inch widescreen display. An orange edition will also feature Lenovo’s Game Zone feature, with oversized gaming control keys, a switch to control CPU overclocking, and a secondary display with performance information.

Lenovo says all the new IdeaPads will be available “this fall” (northern hemisphere) from retail and online partners, but didn’t reveal any pricing information.

Usually $3,679, Lenovo ThinkPad X1 laptop is under $1,000 today
The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 8 viewed at an angle.

One of the better Lenovo laptop deals right now is on the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Yoga Gen 6. It's down to $999 which is a great price for a laptop with an 11th-generation Intel Core i7 processor. As always, we can't really trust its original price. Lenovo believes its estimated value price is $3,679 which seems very high for what this system offers. Ignore the theoretical discount though and $999 is still an excellent price for this laptop. Want to know more? Let's take a look.

4th of July sales are always a great time to check out cheap laptop deals. It's unlikely you'll get cheaper than this deal at Lenovo. Today, you can buy the Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 11e for just $229. Lenovo reckons it's usually priced at $939 so you're saving $710 off the regular price. Honestly, that's very unlikely given the spec. Lenovo uses an estimated value system which tends to overvalue the MSRP of its products. Still, regardless of the price you're actually saving, being able to buy any Lenovo laptop for $229 is pretty sweet. Let's take a look at what it offers.

Why you should buy the Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 11e
The Lenovo ThinkPad Yoga 11e has an Intel Celeron processor along with 4GB of memory and 128GB of SSD storage. That means it won't be competing with the best laptops around given it's not exactly speedy but it covers the basics for working on the move. It's great to see SSD storage instead of eMMC storage at this price, meaning you gain a small but important speed boost while you work or study. Perhaps the bigger highlight here is its 11.6-inch HD screen which is a touchscreen and offers 250 nits of brightness. The laptop also comes with a garaged pen so you can easily use the stylus to sketch out designs rather than solely depend on your fingers.
