Target is selling Lenovo laptops for $150, with a catch

Considering the back to school shopping season is in full swing, now is one of the best times of the year to look for laptop deals. Of course, you’ll find markdowns on a wide array of models at just about every retailer, so sometimes finding the best discounts can be a little tough. It’s our job to stay on top of all the best sales though, and we recently came across a Target promo we’d like to share:

For a limited time, Target is selling a refurbished version of the Lenovo Ideapad Slim 3 with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage for $150. At full price, this model can go for upwards of $270.

Why you should buy the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 3

Sometimes all you need is an entry-level laptop for basic tasking, including web browsing, note-taking, watching movies, and maybe the occasional video game or two. This is exactly the kind of tasking that the Lenovo Slim 3 is designed to handle. Powered by a MediaTek Kompanio 520 CPU and integrated ARM Mali-G52 graphics, this Lenovo laptop actually runs on Chrome OS; so don’t be surprised if you see this model pop up amongst some of our best Chromebook deals.

The Ip Slim 3 is equipped with a 14-inch 1920 x 1080p display with an anti-glare seal. While it’s not the brightest or most colorful Chromebook screen out there, it still gets the job done. You’ll also have your choice of two USB ports (one USB-A and one USB-C), a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a microSD card reader. On a full charge, the Ip Slim 3 should last for up to 13 hours, which should be plenty of juice for the average school day.

For just $550 you can snag this entry-level gaming laptop with an RTX 3050

While gaming laptops used to be quite big, bulky, and expensive, the past few years have seen a big jump in technology, and now most gaming laptops tend to be quite thin and easy to carry around. Not only that, but there are some nice budget-oriented options as well, such as this configuration of the Lenovo LOQ. What makes it impressive is that it's been discounted at Best Buy down to $550 and yet comes with an entry-level RTX 30-series GPU, which is rare at this price bracket. In fact, this laptop usually goes for $800, so you're getting a whopping $250 discount in the process.

The beating heart of any gaming laptop is its GPU, and in this case, you get yourself an RTX 3050, which admittedly is an entry-level graphics card, but for the $550 price tag, it's actually really impressive to see. In terms of gaming, you're going to easily be able to play casual and indie games, as well as older games from the last few years. You can also get away with playing some free-to-play games, and with the screen's FHD resolution and 144Hz refresh rate, you can actually optimize your settings for better framerate, which is a nice addition.

Snag Lenovo’s ThinkPad X1 laptop with a $1,602 discount

While there are a lot of great business laptops on the market, one of the most iconic probably has to be Lenovo's ThinkPad lineup. Of course, they tend to be quite expensive, but luckily, this ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11 has a substantial discount of $1,602 directly from Lenovo. That brings it down to $1,957 from its original $3,559, which is substantial, but it is also worth noting that Lenovo tends to overstate the estimated value of the ThinkPad X1 Carbons. That means that the real discount isn't really that high, although the price you end up with is still pretty solid for one of the best laptops on the market when it comes to business needs.

Why you should buy the ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11
The ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen 11 comes with a 14-inch screen, which makes the overall package very small, and with the 2.48-pound weight, it's pretty easy to carry around with you if you travel a lot. The screen runs a solid 1920 x 1200 resolution, but can hit 400 nits of peak brightness, so you can use pretty much anywhere that doesn't include direct sunlight. You'll also appreciate the 1080P FHD IR camera, which is perfect for those who need to have meetings regularly on the go or when working from home.

While Microsoft Surface laptops are great, they tend to be quite pricey, especially if you're looking for something a bit more robust, like what some of the best laptops offer. That applies to the Surface Pro as well, and if you want something that's a bit more affordable while offering a similar experience, then this Lenovo Chromebook Duet 3 is a great option. In fact, you can snag it for just $270 from Lenovo instead of the usual $420, which saves you a solid $160 in the process.

One great thing about Chromebooks is that they run on ChromeOS, which is a lot lighter than Windows, meaning you don't need as powerful hardware to run it, and that's where the Chromebook Duet 3 shines. In fact, when we got our hands on it, we felt that "this little Chrome OS tablet can handle a surprising range of tasks, falling short of only the most demanding productivity and creative workflows." A lot of that is due to the Snapdragon 7c Gen 2 processor under the hood, which is powerful enough to run this little device while also allowing for pretty much any productivity and day-to-day tasks.
