Logitech announces mechanical keyboard with homegrown Romer-G switches

Logitech has introduced a new high-end gaming keyboard, complete with Romer-G mechanical switches. The Logitech G310 Atlas Dawn Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard is reportedly a follow-up to the G910 Orion Spark Logitech brought to market in late 2014.

The G310 appears to be a more slender rendition of the G910. By stripping away the macro keys, media control functions, and number pad, the G310 is designed to be much more convenient to carry around, making it ideal for traveling to competitive gatherings.

Additionally, the Romer-G mechanical switches are able to register key presses up to 25 per cent faster that its competitors. Sporting a 1.5 mm actuation point, the switches feature an average lifetime rating of 70 million keystrokes, which Logitech asserts is 40 per cent longer than any other switch on the market.

“Having a keyboard that is compact and lightweight was important, but it also had to be durable and comfortable for hours of gameplay,” pronounced Logitech G vice president and general manager Ujesh Desai. “The G310 Atlas Dawn uses our custom Romer-G mechanical switches so it can withstand the wear and tear of intense gaming, which is perfect for our eSports players.”

Also present in the keyboard is a central backlighting system, including the ability to control its brightness. At the top of the board, the blue section allows users to dock their Android or iOS smartphone, designed to be used in conjunction with the Arx Control app, also conceived by Logitech. In doing so, a smartphone can be used as a second screen, displaying in-game information, system stats, and so forth.

Supplemented by a two-year manufacturer warranty, the Logitech G310 Atlas Dawn Compact Mechanical Gaming Keyboard will retail at an MSRP of $180 when it ships next month.

Trying to buy a GPU in 2023 almost makes me miss the shortage
Two AMD Radeon RX 7000 graphics cards on a pink surface.

The days of the GPU shortage are long over, but somehow, buying a GPU is harder than ever -- and that sentiment has very little to do with stock levels. It's just that there are no obvious candidates when shopping anymore.

In a generation where no single GPU stands out as the single best graphics card, it's hard to jump on board with the latest from AMD and Nvidia. I don't want to see another GPU shortage, but the state of the graphics card market is far from where it should be.
This generation is all over the place

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano Gen 3 rear view showing lid and logo.

While the laptop industry continues to move toward 14-inch laptops and larger, the 13-inch laptop remains an important category. One of the best is the Apple MacBook Air M2, with an extremely thin and well-built chassis, great performance, and incredibly long battery life.

Lenovo has recently introduced the third generation of its ThinkPad X1 Nano, one of the lightest laptops we've tested and a good performer as well. It's stiff competition, but which of these two diminutive laptops stands apart?
