MSI is throwing some love AMD’s way with its new GX70 and GX60 gaming notebooks. The pair are the first in the world to be powered by the new AMD Richland A10-5750M processor, which, according to MSI, has a range of 2.5 to 3.5 GHz and increases visual performance by 40 percent compared to previous processor generations. Of course, to give the duo even more gaming prowess, there’s an AMD Radeon HD 8970M graphics chip on board both machines.

The GX70 features a 17.3-inch 1920 x 1080 full HD display, 8GB of RAM, a 750GB hard drive, a Blu-ray drive, Bluetooth, a 720p webcam, Windows 8, and Killer’s E2200 game networking, which reduces lag. It also features AMD’s Eyefinity technology, which allows users to run multiple independent displays simultaneously. Tipping the scales at 8.6 pounds and measuring 2.17 inches thick, the GX70 won’t be confused with an Ultrabook by its size or by its power. The GX70 is shipping today for $1,399.

With a 15.6-inch 1920 x 1080 display, the GX60 is more compact but has the same processor and specs on the inside. It’s slightly more shoulder friendly at 7.7 pounds and 1.77 inches thick. It’s also available today starting at $1,299.

Other goodies on board the MSI GX70 and GX60 include THX speakers with a built-in subwoofer, three USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports (one USB 2.0 on the GX60), HDMI 1.4, miniDisplay Port, VGA, and an SD card reader. Lastly, to keep both machines looking fresh, there’s a full-programmable color backlit keyboard made by SteelSeries.
