New Lexmark Printer Also Burns Photo CDs

Lexmark, a manufacturer of printing and imaging solutions, today unveiled what they are saying is the industry’s first inkjet photo printer with a built-in CD burner. The new P450 is projected for release in October with a street price of $199.

The P450, Lexmark said, prints up to 4×6 borderless photos and features a 2.4” flip up color screen for photo preview and selection. The printer’s built-in CD burner can be used to save digital photos to a CD without the need for a computer. Photos can be transferred from a variety of sources such as a USB flash drive, a digital camera which supports PictBridge, a variety of memory cards and wireless Bluetooth from a cell phone when equipped with an optional adapter.

Photos can also be viewed on a television by connecting a standard video cable between it and the printer.

“The Lexmark P450 brings more photo processing functions to the home, ‘said Najib Bahous, Lexmark vice president and president of its Consumer Printer Division. “People can now save and organize their digital photos on CD, print from a cell phone, view their photos on a television and much more.”

Why you should buy this HP LaserJet printer
This is a pretty basic printer. It only prints in black and white. It doesn't have a scanner or a fax machine, although you can connect it to a smartphone and fax photos that are on your phone. What it does do is print fast and well. It can print a page in under seven seconds, which is important if you're printing massive packets with dozens of pages. Overall it can get up to 30 pages per minute, depending on the amount of lines on each page. It will print up to 600 x 600 dpi. It's primarily meant for printing text documents. In that way, the machine being so basic is actually an advantage. How many times has your printer refused to print a black and white page because it's out of cyan ink? Not a problem here.
