Xantrex Technology, a Canadian company which specializes in advanced power electronic products and systems, unveiled the new XPower Pocket Powerpack 100 today. This battery and inverter combinationis available for $119.99. The XPower Pocket Powerpack 100 can operate or recharge a wide range of mobile consumer electronicsproducts through alternating current (AC), or direct current (DC) from a universal serial bus (USB) power outlet. The device weighs less than 2.4 pounds, and can, according to Xantrex, recharge aBlackberry 30 times, an iPod 20 times, a cell phone at least eight times, or can provide up to 2.5 hours of additional runtime for most laptops without plugging into an outlet. The productalso includes integrated vehicle and airplane connectors to allow users to operate or recharge devices while in transit. “If people constantly need to recharge mobile devices at stationaryoutlets, they effectively lose the benefit of mobility,” said Grant Dunbar, Xantrex product marketing manager, retail markets, in a statement. “We’ve spent years developing the best portable powerproducts on the market and have sold more than one million to date.
