Orca X2: The Most Powerful Laptop Yet?

Computer manufacturer CompAmerica yesterday announced what they are billing as the most current powerful laptop on Earth. The new Orca X2 laptop is available now for a starting configuration price of $2,499.

The Orca X2, according to CompAmerica, is a 17” widescreen WUXGA dual core laptop which uses the AMD Athlon 64 X2 CPU, a multi-core 64 bit CPU rated from 3000+ all the way up to 4800+ MHz performance. The X2 offers four choices of video: Quadro FX Go 1400 video (alternative video boards from the nVidia 6600 and 6800 line and ATI’s Radeon x800) with 256MB of GDDR3. Other hardware options include dual SATA-150 or ATA-100 hard drives with 8MB Buffer and 72000 RPM operation, up to 2048MB PC-3200 (400MHz) dual channel DDR SDRAM and dual CD-RW or DVD-RW drives.

Other features of the new Orca X2 include eight-channel SRS WOW high definition audio with five built-in speakers, including a subwoofer and 5.1-channel S/PDIF interface, 802.11g/b wireless networking, optional Bluetooth, a full sized keyboard and Windows XP Home as the standard operating system.
