Rock Computers were known in the UK for its laptops, but had hit financial problems, going into administration earlier this month due to cash flow problems supposedly caused by a former employee’s stock misappropriation.
Now, in one of these twists you couldn’t make up, Rock has been acquired by Stone Computers, one of the UK’s largest domestic computer makers, with the government and schools among its clients. The two companies will be merged shortly. Stone hasn’t said whether it’s scouting for companies named Scissors or Paper to buy, but Dominic Wong joint administrator of Stone and Rock, did say:
"As well as ensuring the continued availability of Rock’s high performance laptops, the Stone Group has committed to ensuring that existing Rock customers continue to receive warranty, repair and technical support services."
