Samsung throws a curveball with ATIV One 7 Curved, available March 8th

Samsung will begin selling the ATIV One 7 Curved All-in-One PC on March 8

Samsung announced today that it will begin selling its ATIV One 7 Curved All-in-One PC on March 8th for $1,299.99. The ATIV One 7 Curved is the first product of its kind, an all-in-one PC with a curved screen. The company is marketing the system towards movie enthusiasts and anyone who wants a large, sleek display in a system boasting minimalist design.

“The arched display of the ATIV One 7, along with top-of-the-line multimedia capabilities for rich sound and easy content sharing across devices, make this model stand out from the rest as the ultimate entertainment desktop,” said Gary Riding, senior vice president of mobile computing marketing at Samsung Electronics America, when the product was announced in December 2014. “With the ATIV One 7 Curved, Samsung has created a PC that exceeds consumers’ needs, while offering a stunning design that stands out in any home or small office.”

The curved design of the product is meant to provide a unique entertainment perspective and a more realistic gaming experience. The screen itself will be 27 inches and boast 1080p resolution. In this respect, it’s extremely similar to the Samsung SD590C monitor we recently reviewed.

The ATIV One 7 Curved has an Intel Core i5 Processor and 8GB of memory. It also comes with 10-watt stereo speakers, Dolby Sound Effects, and loss-less audio transmission through APT-X technology. Bluetooth Music Play 3.0 allows users to stream music from their smartphone, and the computer will include Samsung’s SideSync 3.0 software. This lets users receive phone calls and texts directly on the PC if they have a compatible Samsung phone. You won’t have to buy a camera for the ATIV One 7 Curved, either.  A 1080p webcam rounds out the default specifications.

Trying to buy a GPU in 2023 almost makes me miss the shortage
Two AMD Radeon RX 7000 graphics cards on a pink surface.

The days of the GPU shortage are long over, but somehow, buying a GPU is harder than ever -- and that sentiment has very little to do with stock levels. It's just that there are no obvious candidates when shopping anymore.

In a generation where no single GPU stands out as the single best graphics card, it's hard to jump on board with the latest from AMD and Nvidia. I don't want to see another GPU shortage, but the state of the graphics card market is far from where it should be.
This generation is all over the place

This tiny ThinkPad can’t quite keep up with the MacBook Air M2
Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Nano Gen 3 rear view showing lid and logo.

While the laptop industry continues to move toward 14-inch laptops and larger, the 13-inch laptop remains an important category. One of the best is the Apple MacBook Air M2, with an extremely thin and well-built chassis, great performance, and incredibly long battery life.

Lenovo has recently introduced the third generation of its ThinkPad X1 Nano, one of the lightest laptops we've tested and a good performer as well. It's stiff competition, but which of these two diminutive laptops stands apart?
