Sony had a couple of tricks up its sleeves this evening. The electronics giant released information on its three new editions to the Vaio family: The Vaio L Touch-screen HD PC/TV, the Vaio X notebook, and new colorful Vaio CW notebooks.
The Vaio L Touch combines TV, Internet and a Blue-ray player all on one touch-enabled monitor. The Vaio L Touch PC/TV comes with Windows 7 Home Premium, or Professional, 64-bit operating system. Select models feature a built-in tuner that connects to your digital cable TV service so you can watch television on your PC. Equipped with a 24-inch WUXGA (1920×1080) widescreen panel, the company is declaring it “the ultimate multi-media hub.”
The VAIO L Touch HD PC/TV will start at about $1,300 and is available for pre-orders today online at www.sonystyle.com/pr/l. It will also be sold at Sony Style stores and select retailers around the country starting next month.
Also unveiled tonight was Sony’s lightest notebook to date, the Vaio X. Weighing only 1.6 pounds and just over half an inch thin, the Vaio X has long battery life and some smartphone-esque features built in– like a GPS, multi-touch functionality touchpad, and wireless 3G Mobile Broadband capabilities. The new notebook also integrates a solid state drive (SSD) which provides a rapid boot-up and quicker access to applications.
The VAIO X Series notebook will come in two colors, black and gold, and start at about $1,300. It is available for pre-orders today online at www.sonystyle.com/pr/x and will also be sold at Sony Style stores and select retailers around the country starting next month.
The last of Sony’s new enchantments is the most colorful of the bunch: these Vaio CW notebooks come in the company’s signature colors of “fiery red, poppy pink, icy white, jet black and indigo purple.” The vibrant 14 inch (diagonal), widescreen notebooks have Microsoft’s latest OS Windows 7, and also features an optional Blue-ray disc drive.
The VAIO CW series notebook starts at about $780. It will be available at the end of the month online at www.sonystyle.com/cwseries, Sony Style stores and at most major retailers around the country.
