This strange controller changes the way you play PC games

Anyone who is into gaming on a PC is familiar with the age-old debate of playing games with a keyboard and mouse versus playing with a standard controller. Some think one way is more accurate than the other, but one designer has taken upon to himself to combine the best of both worlds by creating a controller that could change the way you play your PC games.

The controller, known as Alt Motion, is the work of ex-Razer designer Edward Larkin. Over on the controller’s product page, Larkin mentions how this controller can eliminate typing on keyboards to play first-person shooter games.

Unlike a keyboard, with Alt Motion, you can use one finger to execute commands with any of the joysticks. Or, you can use all three at once for multiple commands. Using the included open-source software, each command in a game can be mapped to a certain movement of the Alt Motion joysticks.

That’s why the controller features a left auxiliary joystick, a right auxiliary joystick, and the primary analog joystick up top. There are a total of 100 different commands and macros that can be configured, and according to the product page, this is what eliminates the need to move your fingers across a keyboard — which can be time-consuming, less fun, and require constant repositioning of hands and fingers.

The controller even has an analog steering wheel for a more realistic feel when playing racing games. What’s even better is that the controller is designed to be inclusive and ambidextrous, so that it works well for both left-handed and right-handed people. An ergonomic wrist rest also means that your hand won’t slip as you use the controller.

Using such a new controller might seem daunting, but Larkin tells Game Rant that the learning curve for Alt Motion is 15 to 24 hours since players won’t need to learn how to reposition their fingers.

For now, Alt Motion isn’t something you can’t buy just yet and a release date isn’t clear. Pre-orders were previously open and will begin shipping in March. The controller will be priced at $250, and potential buyers are urged to sign up for the Alt Motion mailing list for more information.

3 new Xbox Game Pass games to play this weekend (October 25-27)
A player holds a dead player as a body shield in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.

It's Call of Duty week on Xbox Game Pass. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launched today, and from day one, it's a part of Game Pass Ultimate's game catalog. It's one of the big payoffs of Microsoft's $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard. Depending on how it performs, it may be one of the most important games to ever come to the subscription service. On top of that, other Call of Duty games finally got Xbox Cloud Gaming support, which required collaboration with Ubisoft because of certain concessions made during the Activision Blizzard acquisition process. If you're an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscriber wondering what you should play this weekend, the obvious answer is Call of Duty.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 - Global Launch Gameplay Trailer

After four years, the Call of Duty: Black Ops series has made its grand return. It brings the series' story to the 1990s with a spy-movie-like campaign that sees players investigate a secret, nefarious organization that has infiltrated the American government. While the campaign alone is reason enough to check out the new Call of Duty on Xbox Game Pass, Black Ops 6 also features meaty multiplayer and Zombies modes. Multiplayer is as exhilarating as ever, with an emphasis being placed on an "omnimovement" system that allows players to dive, roll, and dodge enemies with a lot more freedom than they could before. Meanwhile, Zombies mode finds a solid balance between old and new mechanics. Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is available via PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox Cloud Gaming with a Game Pass Ultimate subscription. It's also on PS4 and PS5.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III technically came to the subscription service in July but was restricted to PC and console play. Now, alongside Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Modern Warfare III is playable via Xbox Cloud Gaming for Game Pass Ultimate subscribers. This was a lesser entry in the series with a disappointing campaign, but if you're looking for another premium Call of Duty game to try after playing lots of Black Ops 6, Modern Warfare III is the only other one on the service. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III is available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers across PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox Cloud Gaming. It's also on PS4 and PS5.
Call of Duty: Warzone
Finally, Call of Duty: Warzone also comes to Xbox Cloud Gaming today. This free-to-play battle royale title doesn't require any sort of subscription to play normally, but Game Pass subscribers now have the benefit of not needing to be tethered down by specific hardware. So far, there aren't any other additional in-game perks for Game Pass subscribers, but hopefully Warzone will follow Overwatch 2's lead and add some soon enough. If you aren't using Xbox Cloud Gaming, Call of Duty: Warzone is playable on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

Steven Spielberg’s son made a robot-fighting game, and you can play it now
Three players fight a boss in Lynked: Banner of the Spark.

Lynked: Banner of the Spark is a new game by Max Spielberg, son of Steven Spielberg, and his new indie studio FuzzyBot. While Spielberg’s previous experience in the gaming industry was mainly focused on shooters like Medal of Honor and Battlefield, this new outing is a bit more colorful and laid-back while still leaning into gratifying action. That game is Lynked: Banner of the Spark, and it enters into early access on Steam today.

Lynked: Banner of the Spark is a cooperative action game where players fight robots in a postapocalyptic world. In practice, the game is much more vibrant and less dire than that premise makes it sound, as its colorful world is full of adorable robots. With solid roguelite and town-building gameplay loops to back that all up, Lynked is a solid alternative for those getting burnt out on other early access action games like Hades 2 and Towerborne.
Bite-sized Hades
Lynked: Banner of the Spark starts with a prison break. Players meet a friendly Unibot named Buddy and set off on an adventure to restore the Banner of the Spark, a group of helpful Unibots that helped restore the world after an apocalypse. To do so, players have to fight a lot of robots that aren’t as friendly toward humanity. That means Lynked is an isometric action game where players go on missions that all boil down to beating up hordes of evil robots called Combots.

Dead Island 2 - Extended Gameplay Reveal [4K Official]

It can be hard for zombie games to stand out because so many exist. Dead Island 2 had the benefit of being infamous because it was constantly delayed and shifting developers during development. It finally launched almost seven years after its initial announcement. Despite those development woes, Dambuster Studios and Deep Silver's Dead Island 2 is a surprisingly solid action game. It stands out because of its particularly satisfying melee combat and extraordinarily detailed dismemberment system. Dead Island 2 is a fitting game to play ahead of Halloween and definitely the headliner for October's batch of PS Plus additions.
