Velocity Micro Releases New Intel Core i5 and Core i7 PCs

Entertainment and gaming enthusiasts will be pleased to know that boutique system builder Velocity Micro released a series of new desktops and laptops featuring the latest Intel Core i5 and Core i7 processors today.

The formerly high-priced processors, initially codenamed “Lynnfield,” have gone mainstream and are the first Intel processors to integrate both a 16-lane PCI Express 2.0 graphics port and two-channel memory controller, enabling all input/output and manageability functions to be handled by the single-chip Intel P55 Express Chipset.

The Virginia-based company’s new hardware, the Vector Z35 and Edge Z30, can start at $1099 according to their website, and promise unmatched power at an attainable value.

“With the launch of the Intel Core i5-750, Core i7-860, and Core i7-870, we’re able to provide our customers the increased performance of the Nehalem architecture at a very attainable value,” said Chip Lowell, Velocity Micro Vice President of Sales in a release.

Velocity Micro joined forces last month with Connected Nation and several other leading systems manufacturers to enable low-income and unconnected households with affordable computers and low-cost broadband services.

Lowell stated, “The price for performance advantage that these new processors provide is unmatched.”

Intel’s budget Core i3-12100 outperformed AMD’s Ryzen 5 3600 in many games

The Intel Alder Lake generation of processors is expanding, adding entry-level options into the mix. One such processor is the budget Core i3-12100.

The CPU has been benchmarked in several games, giving an accurate portrayal of its gaming prowess. It was also tested against the AMD Ryzen 5 3600 CPU. Surprisingly, the entry-level option from Intel managed to defeat its AMD rival.

Intel’s Alder Lake Intel Core i7-12800H processor continues to impress, with the CPU showcasing impressive performance levels when put up against Apple’s M1 Max chip.

An insight into the CPU initially emerged in November when it was tested in a Gigabyte Aorus 15 YE4 laptop. The Alder Lake chip performed extremely well when compared to Intel's Core i7-11800H and AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX processors.
