“We continue to work on recovering email messages, folders and inboxes for users who are still not seeing some messages in their inbox. Additionally, we are reaching out directly to the impacted users with an update specifically related to their accounts.

Original Story

After Marissa Mayer issued an apology for the recent Yahoo Mail outages and interruptions, and multiple status updates on the progress being made by the web giant’s engineering team were published, it’s currently impossible to know what Yahoo is up to as it attempts to restore not just service, but consumer confidence.

Why is that the case? Well, the official Yahoo Mail status page is down as of this writing, and has been for some time.

This comes after widespread reports of emails not being sent and user’s inboxes not being updated for days, starting on December 9. Four days later, on December 13, Mayer issued an apology on a Tumblr blog. In it, she said:

“For many of us, Yahoo Mail is a lifeline to our friends, family members and customers. This week, we experienced a major outage that not only interrupted that connection, but caused many of you a massive inconvenience — that’s unacceptable and it’s something we’re taking very seriously. Unfortunately, the outage was much more complex than it seemed at first, which is why it’s taking us several days to resolve the compounding issues.”

The last update we saw on Yahoo’s Mail status page indicated that the web giant’s engineering team was “making steady progress on restoring access to messages of affected users.” Their efforts included folders as well as inbox state, which tells you whether you’ve read a message or marked it with a star. The update also stated that timestamps may be incorrect.

If Yahoo’s Mail status page gets restored and includes any new updates, we’ll edit this story accordingly to include the newest information. In the meantime, are you still experiencing problems with Yahoo Mail? If so, please share in the comments below.
