Belkin Announces New iPod, Mac mini Add-ons

Computer gear maker Belkin was doing their part to contribute to new product announcements at MacWorld Boston this week as they rolled out three new devices. Two are for the iPod line and one is for the Mac mini.

First on the Belkin iPod list is the TuneCommand. This $49.99 device, Belkin says, allows you roam and play songs from your iPod up to 150 feet away. It functions as a remote, using wireless radio technology to issue commands to your player through walls and the like. It includes a variety of accessories for securing it and features eight basic functions, including track navigation and volume control. The TuneCommand will be available in August.

Belkin’s other new iPod accessory is the TuneTalk, a $29.99 device which allows you to record audio to your iPod. It functions as a microphone, allowing you to record memos, lectures, etc and store them on your player’s hard drive. It includes a foam microphone cover to help reduce wind noise and will ship later this month.

As for the Mac mini, Belkin pulled the sheets off their new Flip accessory, which allows you to share a display, keyboard and mouse between your Mac mini and another computer. It works with USB-based Mac and PC desktop and notebook computers, offering peripheral switching and full support for all Mac keyboards and function keys. It also allows users to share one set of speakers. The Flip for Mac mini will be available in early fall 2005 for $99.99.

Autonomous vehicle navigation technology is certainly nothing new and has been in the works for the better part of a decade at this point. But one of the most common forms we see and hear about is the type used to control steering in road-based vehicles. That's not the only place where technology can make a huge difference.
