Bellsouth, Napster to Share Tunes

Subscribers to BellSouth’s FastAccess DSL service may be interested to take note in a new deal their provider has signed with online music distribution service Napster. Free music and hardware are both part of the new joint offering.

The terms of the agreement, Napster said, will provide FastAccess customers will a free three-month subscription to the music service’s more than 1.5 million songs. As part of the package, listeners will also be given a flash-based MP3 player which is specifically designed to work with the Napster service without any future firmware upgrades.

Napster added that this deal is the first time they’ve teamed with a U.S. Internet service provider in such a way.

“We’re excited to partner with an industry leader like BellSouth to offer consumers a package that contains everything they need to enjoy a hassle-free digital-music experience,” said Chris Gorog, chairman and CEO of Napster. “Reliable broadband internet access enables music lovers to fully enjoy the Napster experience.”

CES 2023: HD Hyundai’s Avikus is an A.I. for autonomous boat and marine navigation

Autonomous vehicle navigation technology is certainly nothing new and has been in the works for the better part of a decade at this point. But one of the most common forms we see and hear about is the type used to control steering in road-based vehicles. That's not the only place where technology can make a huge difference. More recently, HD Hyundai participated in the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, to demo its NeuBoat level 2 autonomous navigation system for recreational boats. The name mashes together the words "neuron" and "boat" and is quite fitting since the Avikus' A.I. navigation tech is a core component of the solution, it will handle self-recognition, real-time decisions, and controls when on the water.
