Catch the things that go bump in the night on camera, with the Logitech Alert 750n security system

Logitech 750n Master SystemSo, you’ve been watching Paranormal Activity and all its sequels, and are now keen to catch the poltergeist in your home on camera. Well, Logitech’s new Alert 750n Indoor Master System is exactly what you need to capture all the ghostly happenings, and better still it has a night vision mode for when all the lights are out too.

Included in the box is a camera with a 130 degree wide-angle lens, which shoots video at a resolution of 960 x 720 at 15fps. By using HomePlug wired networking, it connects to your router through a power outlet, and in turn to the computer with Logitech’s monitoring software installed.

Once it’s all set up, the camera will automatically start recording when the motion detector registers movement, and a built-in microphone will capture sounds too. The night-vision lens is effective for up to 50 feet, so there’s little chance of you missing even the smallest item move across your kitchen worktop by itself.

When the camera is activated, an alert can be sent by email to let you know (with the subject line “we got one!” perhaps?), and the action can then be viewed using a secure website or mobile app.

If you’ve had enough of the covers being pulled off you at night and have relocated to a hotel, Logitech’s system can be managed remotely from a computer. If your home computer is shut down, video can be stored on a microSD card inserted into the camera too.

Additional camera units can be purchased and the system supports a total of six, and these can be placed both indoors and out.

At $299 for the 750n Master System and either $229 for another indoor camera, or $279 for the weatherproof outdoor model, a full Logitech Alert setup won’t be cheap; but when you’re handing over your credit card, just remember the first Paranormal Activity film has made nearly $200 million worldwide.

Logitech’s Alert 750n Master System will go on sale this month, and if you’re not out to catch ghosts on camera, could quite easily be used as a home security system to catch burglars too.

CES 2023: HD Hyundai’s Avikus is an A.I. for autonomous boat and marine navigation
Demonstration of NeuBoat level 2 autonomous navigation system at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show

This content was produced in partnership with HD Hyundai.
Autonomous vehicle navigation technology is certainly nothing new and has been in the works for the better part of a decade at this point. But one of the most common forms we see and hear about is the type used to control steering in road-based vehicles. That's not the only place where technology can make a huge difference. Autonomous driving systems can offer incredible benefits to boats and marine vehicles, too, which is precisely why HD Hyundai has unveiled its Avikus AI technology -- for marine and watercraft vehicles.

More recently, HD Hyundai participated in the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, to demo its NeuBoat level 2 autonomous navigation system for recreational boats. The name mashes together the words "neuron" and "boat" and is quite fitting since the Avikus' A.I. navigation tech is a core component of the solution, it will handle self-recognition, real-time decisions, and controls when on the water. Of course, there are a lot of things happening behind the scenes with HD Hyundai's autonomous navigation solution, which we'll dive into below -- HD Hyundai will also be introducing more about the tech at CES 2023.

There's a scene in Mission Impossible 3 that you might recall. In it, our hero Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) tackles the movie's villain, holds him at gunpoint, and forces him to read a bizarre series of sentences aloud.

"The pleasure of Busby's company is what I most enjoy," he reluctantly reads. "He put a tack on Miss Yancy's chair, and she called him a horrible boy. At the end of the month, he was flinging two kittens across the width of the room ..."
