Linksys WIP320 iPhone

Linksys, a division of Cisco Systems, is well known as a manufacturer of voice, wireless and networking hardware for consumer and business uses. One of their latest forays into this territory is their newest Voice over IP (VoIP) solution known as the WIP320 iPhone (not to be confused with an Apple product) Wireless-G Phone for Skype.

At first glace the WIP320, priced at $199.99, looks like a regular candy-bar style cell phone with its 1.8” TFT color LCD screen and number dialing/function keys. Instead of accessing a cellular signal however, this Linksys iPhone makes use of 802.11 b/g wireless technology, commonly found in wireless hotspots at places such as Starbucks and airports, to make phone calls using the Skype VoIP communication service.

The WIP320 iPhone comes pre-loaded with the Skype application and lets users make free (to other Skype users) or inexpensive (to non-Skype users) calls through the wireless Internet access point the device is synced with. Real time contact list access and online availability information are displayed so callers can more easily connect with their Skype buddies. Also supported by the WIP320 are other Skype services like SkypeOut, SkypeIn and Skype Voicemail.

The WIP320, which measures 1.77” x 4.65” x 0.81” and weighs 3.5 ounces, has a rechargeable battery which is charged through a USB port on the side of the phone. When in use, the phone is capable of displaying a user’s caller ID so one can see information on the number calling in. This Linksys iPhone also has a number of other handy features including a mute button for privacy, an earphone jack, an indoor range of 75 meters and a handsfree speakerphone function.

More information on the Linksys WIP320 iPhone Wireless-G Phone for Skype can be found at the Linksys Web site.

CES 2023: HD Hyundai’s Avikus is an A.I. for autonomous boat and marine navigation
Demonstration of NeuBoat level 2 autonomous navigation system at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show

This content was produced in partnership with HD Hyundai.
Autonomous vehicle navigation technology is certainly nothing new and has been in the works for the better part of a decade at this point. But one of the most common forms we see and hear about is the type used to control steering in road-based vehicles. That's not the only place where technology can make a huge difference. Autonomous driving systems can offer incredible benefits to boats and marine vehicles, too, which is precisely why HD Hyundai has unveiled its Avikus AI technology -- for marine and watercraft vehicles.

More recently, HD Hyundai participated in the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, to demo its NeuBoat level 2 autonomous navigation system for recreational boats. The name mashes together the words "neuron" and "boat" and is quite fitting since the Avikus' A.I. navigation tech is a core component of the solution, it will handle self-recognition, real-time decisions, and controls when on the water. Of course, there are a lot of things happening behind the scenes with HD Hyundai's autonomous navigation solution, which we'll dive into below -- HD Hyundai will also be introducing more about the tech at CES 2023.

There's a scene in Mission Impossible 3 that you might recall. In it, our hero Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) tackles the movie's villain, holds him at gunpoint, and forces him to read a bizarre series of sentences aloud.

"The pleasure of Busby's company is what I most enjoy," he reluctantly reads. "He put a tack on Miss Yancy's chair, and she called him a horrible boy. At the end of the month, he was flinging two kittens across the width of the room ..."
