Portable DVD Players Get a New iGo

Powering portable DVD players on the go or on the road just got a little bit easier as Mobility Electronics, the makers of the iGo brand of universal power adapters, today announced a new portable power solution for users of these devices. The iGo Auto/Air40 power adapter, priced at $39.99, is shipping this month.

The Auto/Air40 power adapter, according to Mobility Electronics, is designed to power and charge most standard portable DVD players from any standard DC source (i.e. car, boat, plane). The adapter uses an itip, which Mobility has created multiple versions of to match different manufacturer’s products, to connect to the player’s adapter jack. The package that will be shipped includes six of these itips, which should allow support for a diverse line up of portable DVD players. Others can be purchased through the iGo website.

Other features of the Auto/Air40 power adapter include automatic voltage and current regulation for the appropriate type and amount of power and automatic temperature protection for cooler operation.

“The iGo Auto/Air40 power adapter provides an excellent solution for travelers. We are delighted to offer yet another solution that will immediately enrich our existing line of DC adapters,” said Charles Mollo, chief executive officer of Mobility Electronics. “According to industry analysts, the portable DVD market is expected to increase 40% to more than 11 million units in 2005. The iGo Auto/Air40 adapter is the first universal DC power adapter targeted specifically at the rapidly growing portable DVD player market, and it allows us to expand our market presence and further position our itip technology for strong growth.”
