Your Xbox Series X/S will now boot up a little faster thanks to startup tweak

Sonic the Hedgehog always said, "Don't blink, because you might miss it." This piece of wisdom may soon apply to the Xbox Series X/S, as Microsoft is implementing an update that will make the consoles boot up five seconds faster.

As reported by The Verge, the latest Xbox Insider build of the Xbox dashboard had the boot animation on screen for approximately five seconds, compared to 10 seconds for the old cold boot startup. Josh Munsee, director of integrated marketing at Xbox, confirmed over the weekend that he worked with Microsoft to create a new, shorter startup animation that looks the same as the original but reduced the boot time by five seconds.

You don’t need a Facebook account to use your Oculus Quest 2 anymore

Meta has announced you will no longer be required to have a Facebook account to log into the Quest headset starting next month. However, you may have to create a new Meta account if you want to play any VR games.

Founder Mark Zuckerberg announced the new change in a Facebook post on Thursday, saying that Meta is rolling out new accounts for Oculus Quest owners to use instead of their Facebook account. He then added: "This will give everyone more choice about how you show up in the metaverse."

VR standout Moss: Book II comes to Quest 2 in July

Moss: Book II will reach new VR platforms this summer, and it's now scheduled to launch on Meta Quest 2 on July 21. The news comes from today's UploadVR showcase, which featured updates on several VR titles.

Released exclusively for PS VR earlier this year, Moss: Book II is a sequel to acclaimed VR hit Moss. Like its predecessor, it's an action platformer where players travel around diorama-like levels as a tiny mouse.
