AirPods Pro aren’t at their lowest-ever price anymore, but this deal comes close

Apple AirPods Pro

Verizon’s incredible and totally unexpected offer that saw the AirPods Pro on sale for $220 may be over, but Amazon has the next best thing: It’s selling the true wireless earbuds for $228 — down $22 from $250 — for Memorial Day. Time is of the essence with this deal, though: As we saw with Big Red, these discounts can vanish in the blink of an eye. Just keep in mind an additional discount of $2 is applied at checkout, so don’t panic when you head over to the retailer’s website and find they’re listed for $230.

So, how do the AirPods Pro compare to the regular AirPods with Wireless Charging Case? For starters, they’re a lot smaller and shorter. They’re also sweat-resistant, making them the ideal companion for a long workout, and are armed with Active Noise-Canceling (ANC). Plus, they come with interchangeable silicone ear tips that A) ensure the AirPods Pro stay fixed in the ear during intense exercise; B) make them more comfortable to wear for extended durations, and C) create a seal for ANC to work its magic.

Apple made a number of changes under the hood to improve the all-important sound quality as well, headlined by the addition of what it calls Adaptive EQ — a software tweak that tunes the low- and mid-frequencies of the music to the shape of the listener’s ear. It’s all of this combined that makes the AirPods Pro the most advanced AirPods yet. Pair this with the fact they’re only six months old and the fact that any discount on Apple hardware is as rare as hen’s teeth, and we have an unmissable deal.

Not sure about the AirPods Pro? Here’s what one customer had to say about them:

They fit perfectly and work extremely well with the iPhone. I rarely have to charge them and the bluetooth rarely gives me any issues. The sound cancelation was great when I used them while cutting the grass.

Not a fan of the AirPods Pro? There are plenty of other Memorial Day sales happening right this very second that see everything from iPads and iPhones to Instant Pots and Keurigs in the discount bin. The best offer we’ve found to date? That would have to be an incredible Memorial Day TV deal that sees the 58-inch Samsung 7 Series 4K TV on sale for only $430, down $20 from the usual $450. Best Buy’s impressive $100 discount on the Apple Watch Series 5, which brings it down to just $299, is also up there.

However, if for any reason you miss this deal, there are always Black Friday AirPods deals to look forward to.

A Canadian grocery store is selling second-gen AirPods for just $89
Apple AirPods second generation with charging case on a wooden desk.

Canada, the home of hockey, doughnuts, and free health care, is now one of the best places to buy the second-gen Apple AirPods. In an unusual move, No Frills -- a grocery chain owned by Canadian food retail giant George Weston Limited -- is selling the super-popular wireless earbuds for as low as $119 Canadian, which approximately converts to $89 U.S., according to Canadian tech site Mobile Syrup, making this by far the best price you'll find right now.

It's not unusual to see smaller brands like Skullcandy or Panasonic selling budget-friendly earbuds at the ends of grocery store aisles, but it's less common to see Apple do it, and even rarer to see the company's products so deeply discounted. The regular (and current) price on Apple.com, as well as Amazon and Best Buy, is $119 U.S. for the second-gen AirPods with a Lightning-only charging case.

Can you use AirPods Pro without eartips? The answer may surprise you
Apple AirPods Pro 2 seen with ear tip removed.

Apple sells three versions of its super-popular wireless earbuds: The original AirPods, now in their second generation (thus AirPods 2), the third-gen version of the AirPods (which we’ve opted to call the AirPods 3), and the second-gen AirPods Pro (or AirPods Pro 2 for greater clarity). While there are a lot of differences between these models, people invariably notice the physical differences most of all, specifically the presence of silicone eartips on the AirPods Pro 2, and their absence on the AirPods 2 and 3. And that eventually leads to the question, can you use the AirPods Pro without those eartips, and if you did, what would happen?

Before I answer that, let’s quickly review why the AirPods Pro have eartips in the first place. The main purpose of eartips on any set of wireless earbuds is to create a seal around the entrance to your ear canal. This has several benefits:
