Chrome OS tablets are rarer than Chromebooks, and our favorite is the excellent Lenovo IdeaPad Duet. This 10-inch tablet has the advantage of coming with an included keyboard case that lets you use it as a lightweight laptop. The Fire 7 is a bit too basic for our liking, but the Fire HD 8 hits a nice sweet spot in utility, size, and price, with the Fire HD 10 being a nice upgrade pick that’s still pretty affordable.

If you’re looking for a Windows tablet — particularly one you can use as a 2-in-1 laptop — Microsoft has that market cornered with its Surface Pro family. The Surface Pro devices are superb, and the Surface Pro 7 paired with a Type Cover keyboard is actually the best 2-in-1 laptop in our opinion. These can get expensive; however, at roughly the same price as the iPad Pro models, but Presidents Day tablet sales are a great chance to find one at a discount. The best deals are arguably on bundles that include accessories like the Type Cover Keyboard and/or Surface Pen stylus.
