Bose and Sony are both competing for your business with exciting Prime Day deals

One of the best parts of sifting through Prime Day deals is finding competing discounts on the very best brands in the tech market. Right now, Bose and Sony are duking it out for your discount dollars, and that’s in addition to some already great Prime Day headphone deals.

Sony is coming out swinging with $112 off its WHCH710N Noise Cancelling Headphones; they’re

down to $88

from their original price of $200. Meanwhile, Bose is punching back by discounting its QuietComfort 35 II Noise Canceling Wireless Headphones

by $150

; they’re only $199, down from the original price of $349. That’s a slightly bigger discount from Sony (56% to Bose’s 43%) but you’re saving more money with Bose. It’s winner-take-all in this wireless headphone bout. And no matter which you choose, the winner is you!

What we look for in wireless headphones tends to be a mix of style and substance, and these headphones have both. They’re middleweight and comfy, with a sturdy band and soft pads for your ears and easy access to the five buttons that control volume levels, and switch between noise canceling and ambient functions.

Those features, and the space between them, are really important to these headphones, as is the battery life. There’s an estimated 35 hours of playback time with noise canceling on, and 45 hours without it, which bests Sony’s most expensive models by a solid ten hours. And the sound quality is phenomenal; they have 30-mm drivers and a frequency range of 20 to 20,000 Hz. For noise-canceling, they’re designed with Artificial Intelligence Noise Cancellation technology, which used the dual microphones in each ear cup to adapt to the environment around you — whether you’re trying to hear a little noise or shut it out completely. The WHCH710N Noise Cancelling Headphones have super responsive Bluetooth technology (they work great with Alexa and other assistant devices), but they’re also equipped with near-field communication. It allows you to pair with devices by touching them to the left earcup. Handy, right?

Bose QuietComfort 35 II

In a world of FaceTime and Zoom, Bose’s true innovation here is the Dual Noise Sensor Technology, which automatically senses your environment and delivers both the clearest sound to your ears and from your voice to the recipients of your calls. There are three levels of noise cancellation in the Bose QuietComfort 35 II, which allows you to customize exactly how much noise you’d like to filter out. And, of course, you’re dealing with Bose’s sound quality, which is legendary for a reason.

These noise-canceling wireless headphones have been optimized to work with the Google Assistant and Alexa, so all you need to do if you want to play a song, turn on your TV, dim the lights or lower the volume is ask for it. If you’re a traditionalist or find voice commands annoying, there are touch controls as well. Now, the battery lasts 20 hours, which doesn’t compare to Sony’s WHCH710N, but still provides an entire day’s worth of listening. And Bose has placed your comfort first. The soft ear cushions mold to your ear and the adjustable headband is wrapped in Alcantara fabric, which feels luxurious and is way more comfortable than other models. And Bose provides its own app, the Bose Connect App, for your phone, so you can always make your adjustments there, too.

Keen to snap up some great quality headphones in time for the holidays? Walmart has just slashed the price of the Bose QuietComfort 35 headphones by $80, making them just $270 compared to their usual $350. Even with many other headphone deals out there right now, we're particularly keen on this price cut thanks to the Bose QuietComfort 35 headphones being so well regarded.

While the Bose QuietComfort 35 headphones didn't make it in our look at the best wireless headphones due to their being a little older than other Bose headphones of the same type, we still had a lot of positive things to say in our Bose QuietComfort 35 review. Notably, they're great headphones for combining excellent sound quality and noise-canceling features while also being comfy to wear. On top of that, they provide similarly strong audio quality when taking phone calls which is sure to be useful if you plan on using them for multiple purposes. They also offer useful features like Google Assistant support which is highly convenient whether you're walking around or working out while wearing them.

Last chance: Save $50 on Sony WH-1000XM4 noise-canceling headphones
Sony WH1000XM4

Time is running out to grab all the best deals for Amazon Prime Day 2020. One awesome bargain that expires soon is this great offer for these Sony WH-1000XM4 noise-canceling headphones. Normally selling for $373, you can currently nab a set for only $298. A savings of $75 is nothing to shake a stick at, especially when it comes to premium wireless audio.

The WH-1000XM4 are built from the ground up to deliver stellar sound, no matter the listening environment you find yourself in. It all starts with Sony's Dual Noise Sensor technology. Two microphones (one per cup) actively capture ambient sound and filter the data to the onboard HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN1. Your headphones will then adjust your listening experience, based on what the QN1 decodes. Not only will your music and podcasts sound perfect everywhere, but so will your phone calls. The 1000MX4 use five dedicated microphones that isolate and enhance your speaking. We also love the speak-to-chat function. If you need to talk to another human (crazy, right?), just start talking and your music will automatically pause.
