Amazon slashes the prices of the Fitbit Inspire HR and Versa 2

If you’re looking to sport a wearable that is packed with fitness features, Fitbit works as an activity tracker or as a virtual workout buddy. Right now, you can get either the Fitbit Inspire HR or Versa 2 with up to $70 worth of savings when you order from Amazon.

Fitbit Inspire HR

— $69 ($31 off)

As with most wearables from Fitbit, the Inspire HR lets you get the most out of function and style and if you’re familiar with the Charge 3, it’s basically the slimmed-down and spruced-up version. It captures Fitbit’s iconic look with rounded edges, a lightweight plastic casing, and two interchangeable silicone straps to fit quite a range of wrist sizes and personalities.

Consistent with most fitness trackers, Fitbit’s Inspire HR tracks your steps, calories, distance, sleep, and active minutes for as long as you have it on. And the HR designations means you can monitor your heart rate. Keeping tabs on pace, as well as the route you took is possible by linking to your smartphone’s GPS. The best part is, you are not confined to follow just one particular workout with over 15 goal-based exercise modes that can be automatically detected and recorded with SmartTrack. So if plunging in the pool is what gets your endorphins running, it would be no problem at all with water resistance to depths up to 50 meters. The hot tub and the sauna, however, would be pushing it a little too far.

Although it is a fitness tracker in every way, smart notifications such as calls, texts, and app alerts should are accessible right from your wrist with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. While its relatively small build results in a small display, it at least tries to make up for it with a highly-responsive OLED touchscreen and an intuitive interface. It is also hardly a dealbreaker as most of its settings can be configured in the Fitbit app as much as you’ll be capable of long-term progress tracking, goal-setting, and connecting with friends and family.

The Fitbit Inspire HR is published to have a battery life that can last up to five days but based on our review, the slick 3.5-star wearable averaged for three days with medium use. Nonetheless, it is a solid bet for those who want to gear up for an active lifestyle without breaking the bank. Get yours now for just $69 instead of $100 on Amazon.

Fitbit Versa 2

— $130 ($70 off)

The Fitbit Versa 2 is a solid option for fitness enthusiasts who are also in store for a budget smartwatch with a tremendous battery life that can last three days as our review notes. It may not look all that different from its predecessors — the Versa, and the more affordable Versa Lite — but it does try to step up with its integration for Alexa and music streaming apps like Spotify, Pandora, or Deezer. An AMOLED screen also sits in place of what used to be a 1.34-inch LCD display. You’ll also now be able to opt for an always-on display mode when you want real-time stats readily available on the dial, that is if you don’t mind having to charge more often. Readability, even under direct sunlight will not pose as an issue while navigation is relatively smooth.

While you’ll be able to access music streaming apps, you’ll need to have an existing account or sign up for one and the Versa 2 only features playback controls. And as far as Alexa goes,  you’ll only be able to ask basic questions and expect responses in text format. In short, these features would’ve been great if only they were more developed to actually serve its purpose.

Fitbit keeps its edge as a dynamic fitness tracker that offers a simplified and cohesive breakdown of at least seven different exercise metrics, active minutes, floors climbed, steps, calories, and heart rate through the Fitbit app. Women will appreciate the inclusion of the period tracker that will help them understand their bodies even more but the Versa 2 shines best as an in-depth sleep tracker with the new smart wake mode. The app is likewise a portal to a fitness community and if you’re certain about getting actionable health insights or coaching, you might deem the $10 monthly membership fee to Fitbit Premium a worthy investment.

Other notable upgrades would be the upgraded processor and the embedded NFC chip for Fitbit Pay. Smart notifications are also enabled once connected to Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, Android users will even maximize the opportunity to respond to text messages with preset replies or your voice. Usually listing for $200, Amazon 35% price cut makes it available for only $130.
