Amazon cuts $350 off the Google Pixel 3 and 3XL smartphones

With the Google Pixel 4 release on Tuesday, retailers like Amazon are beginning to offer deep discounts on the Google Pixel 3 to clear out old inventory. And while the fourth-generation Pixel is an excellent phone with a much-improved camera, the Google Pixel 3 and 3 XL are still great phones in their own right.

We’ve found

savings of up to 42%

on select brand new (and unlocked) models on Amazon, which seem to have gotten additional price cuts following the Pixel 4 launch event. These are the lowest prices we’ve seen yet.

When we reviewed the Google Pixel 3 last year, we argued that it was “Android at its finest.” It should be: Android is a Google creation, so it only makes sense that the OS would work beautifully on Google hardware. But to only talk about the software would be selling the Pixel 3 short.

Design considerations aside (some might find the bezel and notch on the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL somewhat unsightly), the device feels like the perfect size and weight in your hand. Pictures don’t do it justice: you need to hold this device. The screen is beautiful; we think it matches up well with the iPhone XS, and combined with better speakers, watching content on the device is a pleasure.

But perhaps the best feature is the camera. Until the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro, it was arguably the best camera available on a smartphone, even with only one lens. While the camera is 12.2 megapixels with an f/1.8 aperture, average for a smartphone, the magic happens in the background. The pictures we’ve been able to take with our test devices were some of the most color-rich and sharp of any smartphone we’ve tested, and Night Sight takes equally beautiful pictures, even at night.

The only downfall is the battery life, which lacks behind other market-leading smartphones. We found ourselves having to reach for the charger by the end of the day on busy days. But for the average user, you should get a full day’s battery life out of this device.

A woman wearing the Beats Studio 3 wireless headphones while outdoors.

Whether you're browsing through the best Prime Day deals, in general, or looking for something more specific, like the best Prime Day headphones deals, there's sure to be something you'll love. But audiophiles may want to perk up for this next one because Amazon has heavily discounted the Beats Studio 3 wireless noise-canceling headphones, which offer an incredible audio experience and up to 22 hours of listening time. Normally a whopping $350, they're yours today for only $160 -- saving you $190. Whoa. Hurry, though. This deal is not going to last long, and we have a feeling they're going to sell out quickly.

Why you should buy the Beats Studio 3 wireless noise-canceling headphones
The stunning style and design is the first thing you'll notice about the Beats Studio 3, like the defiant black and red mashup or the equally striking shadow gray with gold accents. But as we all know, style doesn't matter if the headphones don't sound good, and trust us when we say these headphones sound damn good. They were chosen by Digital Trends as the best for critical music listening in our best Beats headphones guide. They feature high-performance audio with adaptive noise canceling (pure ANC) to block external and ambient noise. Real-time audio calibration allows you to fine-tune the experience, and 22 hours of battery life on a single charge will keep you untethered from cables and chargers for quite a long time. If you're traveling, that long battery life is going to be a welcome feature.

It's Prime Day deals season with Amazon kicking things off with some amazing deals on all kinds of tech. One such highlight is being able to buy the Google Pixel 6a for $249 so you're saving $100 off the regular price of $349. That's the lowest price we've ever seen the Google Pixel 6a with the previous low being back during Black Friday when it dropped to $299. Prime Day phone deals don't get much better than this one, so let's take a quick look at what it offers.

Why you should buy the Google Pixel 6a
The Google Pixel 6a was cheap before the price drop, while still packing a punch despite its size. It's ideal for anyone who wasn't attracted to the Google Pixel 6 and found the Google Pixel 6 Pro to be too big for them. The Google Pixel 6a has an appealing 6.1-inch OLED panel with a full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 along with a 60Hz refresh rate. It's covered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 to keep it safe from damage. The refresh rate is slightly disappointing but the phone on the whole looks great even when using it outside.
