Back-to-school season is in full swing and whether you know someone who’s moving on to college or just looking to take advantage of some deals for yourself, if you need a computer, chances are there’s something you’ll like in HP’s Labor Day Sale. So before you fire up the BBQ grill one last time, we’ve rounded up a few noteworthy laptop deals you shouldn’t miss.

HP Pavilion x2 12-inch for $400:

The Pavilion X2 is a neat budget laptop with a few aces up its sleeve. Originally spotted at this year’s CES, it features a detachable 1080p screen that can be used as a standalone tablet. When connected to its full-size keyboard, the Atom-powered machine can be used as a traditional laptop or propped up in tent or movie mode. The 3.2-lb. notebook packs a Micro HDMI port, USB-C port, and USB 2.0 port.

HP Pavilion 15.6-inch for $600:

The Pavilion 15T is rated at providing up to 7 hours of battery life, which should be enough to get you through a full day of classes or a weekend Netflix marathon, the latter of which can be amplified via the built-in B&O speakers. Hardware-wise, the 4.2-lb. machine sports a Skylake Core i5 CPU at 2.3GHz, 8GB of RAM, and a 1TB hard drive.

HP Spectre 13.3-inch for $1,020:

HP-Spectre-13.3-inch-Product

HP’s Spectre 13 is so thin it makes Apple’s Macbook look like a heavyweight. Whereas Cupertino’s laptop is 0.5 inches thick, HP’s Spectre is just 0.4 inches thick. Yet despite its slim waistline, HP has managed to squeeze in a Skylake Core i5 CPU, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB SSD. Based on our hands-on review, the machine holds up well and doesn’t fall victim to many of the standard gripes usually accompanied by laptops this thin.

Still can’t find what you’re looking for? Luckily, HP’s Labor Day sale offers some all-purpose coupons you can take advantage of. Coupon code “LDS25NB” takes 25 percent off select customizable laptops costing $600 or more, whereas coupon code “LDS20DT” takes 20 percent off desktop orders of $800 or more. Plus, save an additional $15 off your online order of $75 or more with coupon code “HPSAVE15”.

Dorm room-friendly all-in-one desktops, such as the HP Pavilion 24T, start at $750 and if you only need a laptop for basic work, budget Pavilion X2 configurations are available for as low as $250, though keep in mind these latter machines don’t pack much media muscle.

Printers and other accessories have been reduced by up to 50 percent. The Labor Day sale ends Saturday, September 10.

If you need to buy a budget laptop to get the basics done, this Amazon Prime Day sale is the best time since all the big retailers are reducing prices. For example, you can grab this 15-inch HP laptop during the Walmart Prime Day sale for just $199, rather than the usual $349 it goes for. Why you should buy the HP 15-inch laptop
While this isn't one of the best 15-inch laptops to grab, it's a great option if you're on a tight budget and just need something to do the basics. Under the hood, you'll find an Intel Pentium Silver N5030, an entry-level processor that should manage most productivity tasks just fine, such as using Excel, word processors, and Zoom meetings. Speaking of the latter, you get a nice 720p webcam, while the screen itself also runs at a 720p resolution and can hit a peak brightness of 220nits, which is perfectly fine for use in most places where there isn't direct sunlight.
