Protect your iPhone or iPad with the IPVanish VPN, on sale through February

As the internet becomes increasingly integrated with more and more aspects of our daily lives, the need for digital protection has become greater than ever. When it comes to internet security and privacy, people are most often concerned with locking down their personal computers, but your mobile devices also need protection – and contrary to popular belief, Apple software is not imbued with magical immunity to viruses, spyware, and other digital attack vectors.

One of the best ways to protect your privacy and sensitive personal data in the modern digital age is to sign up for a trusted virtual private network (VPN) provider. One of our favorite VPNs for iPhones and iPads, IPVanish, is now offering a huge discount on its two-year subscription as part of its 7th-birthday promotion. Read on to find out more about how this VPN works and how you can save.

If you’re unfamiliar with how exactly a VPN like IPVanish works, it’s pretty straightforward: You connect to one of the VPN’s servers (IPVanish in particular has more than 1,200 servers spread across 74 different locations worldwide). That server is what interfaces with the website or other internet service you’re connecting to, delivering the content back to you through the VPN’s connection.

This accomplishes two things: First, it shields your IP address from prying eyes. Websites you visit will see the IP and geolocation of the VPN’s server you’re currently connected to, while yours is hidden. Secondly, IPVanish routes your internet connection around “choke points,” such as countries with censorship-happy governments or other entities that can block content based on your IP address’ location. It’s also a simple solution for bypassing content that’s unavailable in your country (such as region-locked media from streaming services).

For its 7th-birthday celebration, IPVanish is running a month-long promotion on its two-year VPN subscription. Through the end of February, you can grab the two-year plan for a one-time payment of $89. This comes to just $3.70 per month for a total savings of 69 percent. A single subscription allows for up to 10 simultaneous VPN connections across multiple devices, and while it’s great for iPhones and iPads, it’s also fully compatible with Windows, Android, Chrome OS, and Linux.

New iPad Air and iPhone SE are likely coming on March 8
A person's arm holding an Apple iPad Air 2020.

Apple announced its Peek performance event yesterday by rolling out invites to the media. While the company is expected to announce a bunch of new hardware products, a new report has almost confirmed the arrival of the 5th-gen iPad Air and a third-generation iPhone SE complete with 5G. According to a report from long-time leaker Evan Blass, retailers and carriers have begun preparing the pages on their online stores to sell the new devices.

Since its debut in 2016, the iPhone SE has only been refreshed once, in 2020. At that time, Apple upgraded the model from the iPhone 5-style revival to a larger model based on the iPhone SE. There arent any such changes coming down this time around, if reports are to be believed, those are being saved for next year. Rather, Apple will be keeping the same iPhone 8-style design with no notch and Touch ID in lieu of Face ID. However, you are likely to get the new A15 processor which was first seen on the iPhone 13 series. It will have 5G support and a single rear camera, which is speculated to be the best single-camera system made by Apple to date.

The best free VPN for 2022
Man holding phone running VPN to browse anonymously.

If you’re trying to keep your information and internet habits confidential or get around a Netflix geoblock, setting up a Virtual Private Network (VPN) can help shield your data from prying eyes. You don't have to pay for it, either. The best VPN you can download for free is ProtonVPN, and we like it for its strong commitment to privacy and security, plus its easy-to-use client. The free version doesn't have the best server selection, though, which is why we also recommend a number of other free VPNs.

With cybercriminals becoming bolder every day and advertisers paying your Internet Service Provider (ISP) for your personal information, it has never been more critical to ensure that your web browsing habits are kept private. These are the best free VPNs you can download right now

My favorite iPhone 13 Pro case is in the Black Friday sale and you should buy it
iPhone 13 Pro in Incipio Grip for MagSafe case.

It usually takes me a few tries to find a case for the iPhone that I really like and that fits my criteria, but with the iPhone 13 Pro, I got lucky. The Incipio Grip case is by far my favorite case for the iPhone I’ve tried this year, ticking all the boxes for me, and at the moment the standard version has been reduced from $40 to $32, and the MagSafe model from $50 to $40, in Incipio’s Black Friday sale, so it's a strong recommendation from me.
