CM Punk and Shawn Michaels return in WWE 2K15’s ‘2K Showcase’ story mode

2K Sports has shared the first details of 2K Showcase, the story-driven single player campaign portion of WWE 2K15. Combining in-game cinematics with archival and documentary-style footage, Showcase will focus on historic rivalries between WWE wrestlers to structure a campaign for unlocking  additional characters, costumes, and other content for the rest of the game. The two rivalries included at launch are between Triple H and Shawn Michaels, and between CM Punk and cover superstar John Cena.

The Showcase campaign is meant to resonate with longtime WWE fans, as explained by 2K VP Chris Snyder: ““The moment Triple H ended his longtime friendship with ‘The Heartbreak Kid’ by slamming him with a Pedigree was a defining moment in WWE history. No fan can deny the fierce competition marking the notorious battles waged between Cena and Punk. These two rivalries are firmly etched in WWE history, and 2K Showcase enables fans to take part in those memorable experiences.”

Over the course of 33 rivalry matches, players will complete historical objectives to unlock more WWE superstars, costumes, arenas, and other content that will become available in all of the other game modes for creating their own rivalries. Additional rivalries from WWE history will be made available in future DLC releases after the game’s release for PlayStation 3 and 4, and Xbox One and 360 on October 28 in North America and October 31 internationally.

WWE 2K22 is my new favorite TV show
The Rock and John Cena face off in WWE 2K22.

I began watching wrestling in earnest in 2014. I was in the deepest depression of my life when a friend invited me over to watch WrestleMania 30. That just happened to be the year that WWE told one of media’s greatest underdog stories, as pipsqueak Daniel Bryan (or Bryan Danielson, as you may know him now) overcame impossible odds to become the WWE World Heavyweight Champion. It was an impactful moment -- one that gave me the confidence I needed to start the long climb out of a deep hole.

2K reportedly publishing two Lego sports games
Two characters race in a Lego Worlds neighborhood.

Publishing giant 2K is partnering with Lego to produce multiple sports games, including a soccer title that is set to release later this year, according to a report from Video Games Chronicle.

Set to launch close to the start of this year's FIFA World Cup, 2K's upcoming soccer game is reportedly being developed by Sumo Digital, which has previously developed Crackdown 3, along with numerous entries in the Sonic Racing franchise. It's somewhat ironic then that 2K's second Lego game will be an open-world racing title developed by Visual Concepts, which itself has made multiple sports titles for 2K, including NBA 2K22 and WWE 2K22. The 2K Lego racing game will reportedly release in 2023. According to VGC's sources, a third Lego sports game based on a major sports franchise is also in development.
